Big Ten is going to invite Oregon and Washington to join the league

Recommended Posts

Any semblance of tradition was ruined when they added USC/UCLA (arguably when they added Rutgers), so might as well acquire all the top programs you can now. Better to be in the Big 10’s or SEC’s position position than the other conferences now scrambling for scraps.

Oh whateverrrrr.

It’s a change for sure. I do love the west coast. If I cared more about CFB I’d likely have a different reaction. The B1G is a little boring so an infusion of new teams and playing styles can be good. It’s a pro-league at this point anyway so the coast to coast thing isn’t a big deal. Schedules for BB should be more balanced, and winning the conference will be even more impressive.

Why does it feel like at NCAA offices they’re still spending more time arguing over executive parking spots and vending machine choices than addressing their loss of control.

If they're joining in 2024, does that mean we're going back to playing the O$U/Michigan/Penn St triumvirate in football again?

I doubt it. I would think they're going to give the new flex schedule a try for a cycle or two.

I foresee a B1G and SEC only conference in the future. Much like what pro leagues have. (NFL: AFC v NFC, MLB:NL v AL,  NBA: EC v WC, etc. etc.) And I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is what the NCAA desires.

It's unfortunate because non-P5 schools are screwed. In my neck of the woods, schools like UE and USI will be toast if the NCAA turns into a two conference association.

Once we get to 20 teams I am trying to figure out how we will do the conference tournament.

All of this is because of football I just wish that football do their own thing and leave all other sports the way it is. For college basketball you don't need 20 teams in the conference because there is no way you can play every team.

I really hope we add Rhode Island so we can get some easy basketball wins!

What happened to the Florida State rumor?  I want them too

FSU and the other 1/2 of the ACC which want out still need to figure a way out of the poorly thought out agreement they signed. I'm sure they'll get there eventually but it'll take some time.

Well... we know for sure that they're definitely going to send it out to the West Coast for a few years (probably one or two seasons in LA, either at Staples Center or the Intuit Dome, and one in either Portland or Seattle), but if they add North Carolina/Duke/Other ACC teams, they may consider a geographically centered program.  I don't know if Indianapolis will cut it, unfortunately... not that we're bad at hosting, more that we're not longer the center of the league.

Luckily, I found the new home of the Big Ten Tournament!
