Indiana Players Now In The Portal

Recommended Posts

Maybe.  MR is still a bit one dimensional.  MM made great improvement.  Galloway is a great glue guy type but he is what he is.  You're still going to need a few true studs out of the portal and there is no reason to come to IU vs another better program.  That's the problem.
Mr and MM both are not very good on defense. They will score but Mr will probably foul out lot unless the nba legend finds another ware in the portal.

Mgbako was horrible on defense ... until he wasn't bad at all.

Agree on MR. Defensive liability. MM showed improvement toward end of the year. and Gallo defensively is a juggernaut in my mind, always guarded best perimeter player - often shut them down. He desperately needs another CG to help carry some of the load. I think Gallo is great but he was asked to be the playmaker, best defender, primary ball handler + more and he still caught all of Woody's **** talk post game. Respect for Gallo.

Offensively, if IU can get a guy who shoots 58% from unguarded 3's and stack him on MR's side of court it reduces the double or leads to open shots. Also, would help if the CG could shoot 47% from catch n shoot 3's to help a driving guard with great vision like Gallo. Of course the player I'm talking about is Javon Small :farting_smiley:

A year of S&C for MM will make him one of the best offensive players in the B1G IMO. He struggled with quickness of other 3's and switching this year. MM will be exciting to watch next year!

That sounds good as long as MR doesn't put his head down and dribble into double and triple teams.  :)

I was just thinking about his improvement as well which lead to thoughts as to how he has improved on blocking out and developing a nose for going after the rebounds. imo He still has room for improvement but I have enjoyed the strides of growth in this area.

MR (imo) has made small strides in improvement on the amount of emotions he shows after fouls are called.  All of this NIL money being thrown around, I would love Chris Reynolds to be paid to work with Reneau 2-3 hrs just on footwork.  *Please put your rocks down. I know Chris was a guard. I just think it would be awesome if Reneau was taking continuous, small steps.

Straight up hill with no shoes and two back packs on.
Well come this July we will we a top ten team looking to cut down the nets next year. Just wait it happens every single summer. Last summer I would have thought gunn was going to be all big ten based on some of the hype I read. Lol.

I still put that on the head coach. When NBA scouts are saying he has tools to play professionally but our coach can't give the kid more than 10 minutes. We're a different team if he had developed him. But it's a lost cause now. Let's go portal

True. And with him bringing in all these one year rent a players next spring we will need about 10 portal guys. Unreal. Boogles my mind in year four a coach needs 7 to 8 portal players.

The horror of fans getting excited about their team and players. My god, if only everyone was as smart as Dr. Kyle.

Excitement vs delusions are two different things. Some of the stuff I read last summer was off the charts delusional.

Positive thought on Galloway I've been thinking about for a while.

Trey shot 58% on 2PT FGs this season. That's downright elite finishing for a guard. Think of other guards who are known for driving - Terrence Shannon shot 57% on slightly more attempts. Domask 53%. Bruce Thornton 50%. Buie, Jahmir Young, Braden Smith in the 45-46% range.

He came a long way as a playmaker this season too. Surround him with shooters, and he could have a really nice season.

I'm also hopeful his perimeter shooting will rebound a bit once we aren't asking so much of him. That 46% from two years ago was a fluke, but somewhere in the mid-30s would be acceptable given his other strengths.

And? Did you feel that way about it? If not what’s it matter if other people pumped out extreme optimism.   I read that stuff also and didn’t agree with what some said only  difference is that stuff doesn’t bother me.    A lot of over the top delusional stuff in the Fire Woodson thread as well that doesn’t bother me

After seeing the video of Gunn shooting with his summer coach in Atlanta last summer you would have thought he would have started for IU, led the team in 3 point percentage. Him on one side Mgbako on the other draining 3's. What I wouldn't do to be a fly on the wall during IU's practices. Not saying they don't work hard, game planning etc but just to see what happened to Gunn and why he performed so bad in games.

Not knocking anyone by this, but I feel Gunn never got comfortable with the speed of the game or maybe the pressure of the game. In no pressure situations, e.g. the game is already lost or after the whistle, he would release on-time and generally hit the shot. Most of his shots; however, he released on the downward motion of his jump.To me releasing on the downward motion would indicate that he was still processing the shot in his head, but his body was a half second ahead of his thought process. Definitely not the first IU player to ever have his body ahead of his mental processing, cough... Troy.. cough.. Williams... cough.. cough..

He's a cancer on the Rivals board and that place is a cesspool to begin with.
