WayneFleekHoosier Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 16 days we have live IUBB! I think this team can meet and possibly exceed expectations. Also, the most stacked college basketball season I can remember. 30-40 good teams. It’s gonna be a good one.Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Demo, MikeRoberts and HoosierTrav 3 Quote

Stuhoo Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 Big Ten Network analyst Tre Demps has been visiting team practices across the conference. Here’s his quick take on IU: thebigweave and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

I guess it makes me feel better about next year's core of Galloway/Bates/Geronimo/Reneau. But, I'm hoping it was a bad day for the vets when he visited. Quote

Agree on that point. It does seem to confirm what we have been hearing about having quality depth. That alone would have won a few more games last season. Quote

Based on watching the team scrimmage at HH and my otherwise full guess, he is seeing players and the team making errors on spacing, ball decisions, shot making, etc. Individual talent jumps, playing cohesively as a team probably has a ways to go. Do we have any Offensive system. High pick and roll a lot. Dribble drive, i guess. Team will have to grow but it's nice confirming the talent looks strong as we'd expect. thebigweave, DChoosier, Stuhoo and 1 other 4 Quote

Agree and last year we often had two guys in the post while on the perimeter we had X handling the ball with Stewart and Kopp standing around on the wings. Transitioning from 2 in the post and 2 standing around to having two perimeter ball handlers (X and JHS), and probably/possibly/hopefully only having one guy in the post with the other out, is a big, big change offensively and will take some practice and game time to implement. thebigweave and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

FWIW, His assessments of other practices he’s seen are similar in video length and format but not as glowing overall. Basically, his “one concern” issue with other teams is an actual concern, such as Purdue only having one playmaker (Edey). ALASKA HOOSIER, thebigweave, DChoosier and 2 others 5 Quote

DChoosier Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 His comments are yet more evidence that JHS will start. I think Woodys comment in regards to trying him with the first and second team was partially intended to make it clear nothing is given to anyone but…he will start. I think Woody is working out sub patterns that would include JHS as the primary facilitator with the 2nd unit. Very much an NBA mindset. Could see him start each half, be the first sub out at the U16, and then see him sub back in for X at the U12 with the 2nd unit. Crimson and Cream, thebigweave, Stuhoo and 2 others 5 Quote

And if X or JHS gets in early foul trouble, Gallo has been regularly handling the point for the white team in practice and would be the choice. Ahhhhh...the beauty of having depth. thebigweave and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

My money is on him starting but it wouldn’t be shocking if Bates started and JHS led the second unit and/or blended in with some of the first team guys. I still think he starts but we will find out soon enough. Quote
