RaceToTheTop Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 The guy that was their quarterback has been pretty underwhelming, so I would think that Penix probably steps in with the expectation of being the starter from the get go. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Penix will start at Washington. Just watch: He'll start every game, throw for 4,500 yards and 40 TDs against 8 picks. LOL! ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

I think there's a better chance he'll have a pretty good game against a decent opponent, then the backup will come in for some reason, then Washington will announce he has an undisclosed injury of some sort and they aren't sure how long he'll be out. LamarCheeks Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Granted, it's only against Kent State -- but Penix is looking sharp so far. UW 21, KSU 7 through a quarter. DChoosier 1 Quote

MemphisHoosier Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Penix looks great so far against KSU. Between him and the UW coaching staff, it makes the Huskies an easy squad to root for on the west coast. Quote
Brass Cannon Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 I’ll be happy for the kid but not going to lie if Penix finally has a healthy year I might have to break something RoadRage and Stuhoo 2 Quote

I think he'll get injured around game 6. Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 It seems 2 of his injuries occurred without contact?? Fleeing the pocket? Kid is certainly talented. It's easy to root for him to be his best. Quote

It's easy to root for him to be his best. His injury during the Covid year happened when we ran a designed run for him which worked beautifully because we almost never had him run (due to injury issues). He easily picked up the first down and was going to try for the end zone, but then he saw that there were two defenders that were likely going to stop him from getting there and he pivoted to go out of bounds. As he was running out of bounds he hurt himself...so unfortunate as he was trying to avoid contact. I think he can stay healthy if he nevers runs the ball. But in the end, that's going to limit Washington a bit offensively. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I remember NFL All-Pro running back "Fragile Freddy Taylor" who got that nickname after missing a good part of his first four NFL seasons. Fred Taylor went on to a 10,000 yard+ rushing career and was indestructible in the second half of his career. Past injuries do not always equate to future injuries. If injuries have a lasting effect (like Mo Creek) that's a big roblem. But if Penix is fully recovered he may be just fine, and he's a heckuva good college QB. bigrod and Leo 2 Quote
