Doubt we will see it, but would love for some to hit the transfer portal and totally end their season. IU needs to make the dance, don't care who has to suffer for that to happen. IU - Kaulie Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 1 hour ago, Chris007 said: Also Woody mentioned today that Leal will get minutes, that Rob is the second PG, and sounds like Lander's minutes will go down. Also sounded like he wasn't happy with Lander or Bates in the Syracuse game. I would love to see more Leal. He has some limitations with defense on the perimeter but let’s see what he can do with the minutes. I hope him getting minutes means that we see less of Jordan. He has had his opportunity and has been awful the last several games. I have never seen what a lot of others on here see with him. Chris007 and pumpfake 2 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 I'm not wringing my hands and hoping that Nebraska and/or future opponents are tired etc. I know that stuff happens in any game that potentially may have an effect on performance by us and by them. But it is interesting to hear about the pros and cons going into games. I do remember discussions when RMK was HC that were similar. So it isn't just being snakebit over the last 2 decades that drives this fan forum into a looney bin. Why do you think that we are called fans? (Hint: fanatic) I am wondering how to improve free throw percentages...and 3's...and to reduce turnovers...and to have a better bench...and etc. But worried? No I'm not. I'm glad that the guards have gotten upgraded this year. I'm heartened that the players seem to like playing for Woody. Defense has looked really decent albeit against lessor competition...no surprise here. As we jump into the more difficult stretches of the season I look forward to the games. They are great entertainment. And I do believe that each season, now, will bring an upward trend in wins. We will be needing some bigs, shooters and ball handlers...with size. Now if football could get the coaching staff and other pieces into place... ALASKA HOOSIER and GoIU8 2 Quote
Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted December 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 3, 2021 The IU fandom in me wants IU to win every game the team plays especially games against teams that IU should clearly beat. The college basketball fandom and bracketoligist in me tells me that this won’t happen. No such thing as a must win game in December. Too many games to be played for teams to build or destroy their resumes later in the year. IU could go on and lose to Nebraska and Notre Dame and still make the tournament comfortably with the amount of Q1 games IU will end up playing and potentially winning. IU also could go on and win tomorrow and win 6 straight and still miss the tournament I’ve seen teams lose 4 Q4 games in the non conference battle their way back in their conference and get an at-large bid. I’ve also seen teams that started out on fire in the non conference and look like a lock for an at large bid get into conference play and take a nose dive and miss the tournament completely. My long winded way of saying winning or losing for any team in early December doesn’t make or break a teams Resume thebigweave, JHoosier914, HoosierHoops1 and 5 others 8 Quote

Dave from Dayton Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Getting ready for the first in-conference basketball game. The start of a great new era. First thing is a beer run. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 GAME DAY. NOON. BTN Radio Live Stats Special halftime recognition ceremony for Dr. Greg Bell, 1956 Olympic gold medalist in the long jump. I'm proud to say I know Dr. Bell and was a fellow Rotarian for a great many years. His 1956 leap was 7.83 meters (25.68898 feet). More background on Dr. Bell. He won three national AAU championships, two NCAA Championships, earned NCAA All-American status three times and was a four-time national AAU All-American. From 1956–1958, he was ranked first in the world in the long jump. He set an NCAA record in the long jump, which stood for seven years, and is a charter member of both the Indiana Track and Field and IU Athletic halls of fame. Bell was inducted into the USATF Hall of Fame in 1988. Bloomington -- Dr. Greg Bell, arguably the greatest student-athlete in Indiana University history, will be recognized this Saturday, Dec. 4 at the IU men’s basketball game against Nebraska. The game is a noon tip and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Bell holds the distinction of being IU’s first student-athlete individual event Olympic gold medalist and Indiana University’s first African American gold medalist. In addition to his 1956 Melbourne Olympics long jump gold medal, Bell is a three-time All-American, two-time NCAA Champion, Big Ten Scholar Athlete, inductee in four Track & Field Hall of Fames, a close friend of Jesse Owens, a professor at Howard University, a 50-plus year employee of the State of Indiana along with numerous other honors and achievements. Dr. Bell’s recognition of the 65th anniversary of his gold medal performance at the Melbourne Olympics will be almost 65 years to the date when he returned to the Indiana University campus in 1956 and was recognized at halftime of the IU vs. Butler basketball game on Dec. 10, 1956. IU won the game and went on to become the Big Ten champions in the 1956-57 Season. Dr. Bell just recently turned 91 and retired in 2019 after 62 years as a practicing dentist. Bell routinely jumped up on lab tables approximately 40 inches tall well into his 80s, and I believe he could still jump over 20 feet with a week or two of practice. For this special occasion, Dr. Bell will be wearing a pair of custom designed and created Adidas tennis shoes (by Leah Pinney, lpinneydesign.com) that capture the highlights of his outstanding career. Bell wore Adidas during his Olympic gold medal performance in Melbourne and while he was competing at IU. The shoes — much like the man wearing them — are amazing. Thank you to Indiana University for Dr. Bell’s special recognition. 323SGrant, Dave from Dayton, HoosierHoopster and 1 other 3 1 Quote
