That's the $60,000 dollar question (and I'm not the one to answer it, lol). In the college BB thread there's a tweet abot Hunter, Durham, and Franklin and their unimpressive 3-pt shooting with their new teams - clearly CAM didn't bring in a array of sharp shooters. Quote
Jeff Flabjohns Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) Water will find its level. I have confidence they will emphasize the importance of the right people getting these shots (Kopp, Stew, Rob, Bates?)…as I type that out it’s clear we continue to have less people I feel confident in shooting than most teams To the St John’s point, KenPom has Miss Valley St as the dead last team out of 358 fwiw Edited November 10, 2021 by DoctorP2 MikeRoberts, lillurk, incrediboy and 2 others 5 Quote

Trey plays better D than Leal so his playing time is going to be more, plus he's a better ball handler IMO but I think I would have liked both. Right now Woodson said we're going with a 9 person lineup and neither has made the top 9. But I think we see both Friday night. I understand all that. But man... We need shooters more than ball handlers and Galloway's shot is beyond broke. We already have Johnson on the court, Galloway isnt much different. Chris007 and lillurk 2 Quote

He’s becoming his Dad or Shaq from the line.Seems like early in his freshman year he was nothing but net from the line. Then, all the sudden…. POOF! No accuracy.Hope he can get that back and FAST!Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Dave from Dayton 1 Quote

But I would have been thrilled for us to be at 31% last night. It's also likely an affect from them moving the 3 point line back as well. It will take some games for players to get adjusted to shooting from that distance in game. Chris007 and Dave from Dayton 2 Quote

Our offensive rebounding was awful. I didn’t see much to free up Kopp and Stewart for open catch and shoot threes. Those two should take 10 a game and really limit the amount coming from the others. as you pointed out, nobody was even around or attempting to grab an offensive bird on the majority of shots. That’s not a great recipe for success incrediboy, Dave from Dayton and triple 3 Quote

Popular Post Hoosierfan2017 Posted November 10, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2021 First game in front of fans in Assembly Hall since March 2020. Only Trayce, Race, and Rob are left from that team. Three of our starters are brand new. We looked like a team that hasn’t played much together. That’s to be expected with the number of new guys we’re trying to work in, plus everyone is new to a Mike Woodson team. Frankly, I liked that we took 24 threes even though they didn’t go in. I thought it was really encouraging. We won’t shoot 16% every game. We only took 18 threes per game last year which was 301st in the country. We only took 24 or more 3s in a game last year three times. (And we won all three games). We also only did it three times the year before that. You need to be able to jack up 3s in today’s college basketball. We just need to get the right guys taking them. Race probably shouldn’t be taking threes, and definitely shouldn’t be taking four of them in a game. Kopp and Stewart need to be taking more of our threes. Bates was injured so hopefully that explains his limited minutes yesterday. I’d like for him to get more time and more threes. craigyv88, Dave from Dayton, VO5 and 5 others 7 1 Quote

Woody is more focused on defense right now and that's why Galloway is in the rotation. Lander and Leal are going to get opportunities to show they should get minutes as well. They just have to capitalize on those and not crap the bed. That 9 man rotation is likely to change several times throughout the season. Dave from Dayton 1 Quote

IUFAN1976 Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Mike Woodson stated he is using this game as a teachable moment. Let’s see how we improve each game. That is something we haven’t seen for quite some time with the previous coaching staff. A trademark of a Knight coached team is their improvement throughout the season, I expect that will happen under Woodson. HoosierHoops1, incrediboy, Dave from Dayton and 1 other 4 Quote

No doubt that 1st game thoughts were on his mind. That and maybe how to differentiate his tenure from that of others at IU. And he probably wanted to keep somewhat detached and objective to learn this new team. As an aside, he may have been channeling the Wizard of Westwood. Envision Woodson = Wooden! Quote
