For what it’s worth, the AAU call never happened.  It was bad info from Trilly.  AAU coaches that would have been on the alleged call have been contacted and they confirmed there was no such call with Scott.

Thank you. But that’s not what we were told here. We were told it was confirmed to have happened.

I don't think Dolson would be building a schedule for 25-26 and talk to AAU coaches if he didn't -as JY says- "have his man".. just my opinion...

Do you really think that Dolson locked him up last month and it didn’t get out? With two kids in high school and college, Celtics affiliation, lawyers, trustees, ADs, presidents, donors and the list goes on, that it would have gotten out?

seriously take a second and think about all the people involved and the only 3 people that knows is Dolson, Stevens and people on this board?

Gates is a really good coach.  Sucks he went 0fer in conference last year so most wouldn’t give him a chance but that kid is a really good coach and has been for a while

A really good coach and motivator, and a GREAT recruiter.

Dennis Gates with IU’s resources would potentially give us the best roster in the nation.

so as JY says.. If there is movement after the big 10 tourney which ends the 16th of March.. potentially St Patty's Day could be extra celebratory...

just spitballing...  :)

I am a mostly positive thinker therefore I will ignore the fact that March 15th is the Ides of March which would portend that we are hiring a Brad —- Brownell.

Hard not to be impressed seeing Bates production there.

It’s been talked about many other places besides this board.  If not, why the need for Goodman’s tweet?

Don’t they fertilize that with manure?  Lol

I doubt that it would smell worse than most of the last 25 years of IU basketball.

Besides, would I really notice?  I worked at a wastewater treatment facility for a couple of years.

Bill Self has been slacking. Top 3 Nil in the Country and he’s floundering. Maybe our next coach might want Kory Bidunga?

2 years in a row really struggling with a top roster on paper. With his heart and results, I wonder how much longer he stays with it.

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Word around my neck of the woods is Flory is going to play one more year of college and with his host family still here, maybe the next IU coach takes a shot?...

It’s Gates. He’s not an innovator; he’s a very smart motivator that players would run through a brick wall for.

Clearly he knows how to set them up for success and get the best out of them. Being a good motivator is one of the most important things for a college coach. The Pitino clip you shared in the other thread was excellent.

I think being a motivator is probably Dan Hurley's biggest strength. They are struggling this year but every game is close. They never get blown out. Their perimeter defense is not as good as it has been and their bigs are not Sanogo or Clingan. But that staff sets them up to succeed and gets every ounce of effort out of their teams. I'm excited to watch a coach with some fire at IU.

Saying he is not an innovator seems inconsistent with your earlier comment about being a great coach.

There is little doubt that IU has been in communication with Stevens. There has been for 13 years. That’s not new. Why did Stevens do the whole masshole thing 4 years ago? Why did Goodman ask him for an interview? Because people are talking about him and Indiana just like they have each cycle.

This whole done deal thing has been done before without it being done. Hopefully Dolson has learned from last time and isn’t doing things to our schedule and with recruiting until it is signed sealed and delivered.

Let me add, if Dolson was in fact doing things externally with schedules and AAU coaches at the request of Stevens without a signed contract in place, especially given what transpired 4 years ago we’re screwed.

all the stories that keep getting shared that is intended to prop Dolson makes me less and less confident he’s not screwing it up again.

i sincerely hope he was not building a schedule and speaking to AAU coaches on behalf of a non candidate. That’s really really stupid

Please tell me more... when did he screw up previously?
