I don't think Fred Glass would've fired Archie with a 10 mil buyout. He would've waited another year. We saw that with Crean in 2015. That being said, I have to think (and this has been said on here) they are getting a proven winner. Not a Dane Fife, not a Gates. It has to be a proven P5 winner. You don't fire Archie Miller to replace him with a coach who has a similar resume as him. You just don't, not with a 10 mil buyout. If I had to put money on someone (and frankly I've went from Alford to Fife so who the hell knows) I'd say Eric Musselman is the guy. I don't know if Stevens leaves one year after his extension. They would really have to wow him. I think Beard is a Texas guy and don't see him coming to Indiana. The next guy that comes to mind would be Musselman. I would HOPE Indiana University could lure a coach from a football school. personally I think any hypothetical decision by Brad would have less to do with extensions, or contracts in general, than it would with the question of whether his preference for NBA over college coaching has changed over time or not. FWIW there have definitely been expressions of dissatisfaction about Brad's coaching in the Boston media--as well as suggestions that some of the Celtic players regard him as "a college coach" and have basically tuned him out. lillurk, thebigweave and NVFalcons1990 3

To be fair, Stevens has been a head coach longer. The answer may be obvious but perhaps Fife is a really good head coach. He did fine as a 26 year old.
cleeter Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 So is there a press conference today? Yes. 4pm on B1G Network.

I don't think it will be to announce a new coach. Huge s/o to @Chris007. This is a free message board and he was better than any of these "insiders" people pay for. If a guy can’t win in the horizon league, then he’s definitely not winning at freakin Indiana. It’s really that simple. Stevens won big at butler and in short order. If my memory serves me correctly, I’m pretty sure Stevens started as a head coach 2 years after Fife. We cannot hire Fife. It would be an epic disaster.
