If these are the four, who do we choose B'Town?

I don’t want Beliein. Great coach but he’s just too old. I’d pick Drew #1 but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those three. All would be improvements.

If we’re sticking with someone who can’t beat Purdue & Rutgers because Knight didn’t like someone’s dad than we have bigger problems.
Were not sticking with the guy who can't beat purdue or rutgers. Bring on the son of the guy knight didn't like i guess

I wouldn’t be upset. He’s 68, old yes, but Izzo is 66, K is 74, Roy is 70, Pitino 68.

I think Belein could turn things around fairly quickly. If he can give us a solid 4 years and get IU back on track and make it a desirable job again, maybe by the time he’s ready to call it a career someone like Stevens or Beard would be willing to come.

If it were Belein, I have to assume Dolson would definitely have that conversation on how long he thinks he’s around and that would give him a known timeline and multiple years to work back channels for his eventual successor.

Well assuming he’s gone, I wonder how soon it’ll be announced if he is?

Probably depends on the terms, right? If he wants out and wants to be a candidate elsewhere ASAP you can probably negotiate some horse trades about mitigation, buyout, etc. but that might take more time.

More likely he’s competitive and doesn’t want out but sees what we all see. So you talk about coming to the table but decide the contract stands and separate on the existing terms.

The other timing considerations are your target(s)/interview process/competitors.  Only Beilein and Matta are free now among the most-discussed candidates here; everyone else plays at least next weekend.

All told: within a week? Chris thinks sooner though. Hmmmmmmm

The only thing that I feel good about is that at the time he was announced, I called the Archie Miller Hire a major disappointment. My exact word were I feel like I’ve just been kicked in the nuts! Well, I still feel that way 4 seasons later.

if we stick with someone it'll have nothing to do with "ancient history" from back then, it'll likely have more to do with some folks' fear of what they think would be "bad optics"
