Tamar Bates at 22 yrs old more mature than Dan Dakich at 62.

LOL

The timing of the tweets are odd. Dakich made the original tweet on February 4th of 2024. At that time, Tamar Bates hadn't won an SEC game. That tweet was made right after Mizzou had lost to Vanderbilt and was 0-9 in the SEC(Mizzou was 0-18 in conference play). Bates first SEC game was January 6th, 2024. Finally got an SEC win January 27th, 2025. He and Mizzou were 0-20 going into that game. The most recent tweet made after beating Alabama. I just see zero reason to dig back a year for the post from Dakich.

I'm just trying to proactively direct them out of this thread because it will be a debate whether we want it to or not, not that it's been stirred.

Oh yeah, I agree it has no place in this thread. You’re spot on. I just want this to stay a sports board and not a politics board because I want to keep on liking most of you cats lol

He would have had absolutely zero case for discrimination…
There is only one reason he was kept. Quinn buckner. He would of had no case at all.

Man I just can't stand thinking to far down the list of coaches. I think dusty may is the most unlikely to happen imo. I put stevens well ahead of dusty chances of coming here. The only reason to wait a year would be to hire brad Steven's. That makes perfect sense to me. Waiting a year to hire may makes absolutely zero sense. When you think about this reasonably the most logical hire has to be brad Steven's! Dolson had his guy since last year!

That's a version of events that would be very pleasant. Otherwise... it would be pretty hard to get over not hiring May this time last year. May could be doing a better version of what he did at Michigan here, because it's easier to get players in here.

You're assuming the plan was to get rid of Woodson this year. I don't think it was, at least not for those who had the power to keep him last year. So the idea was they stuck with Woodson an extra year to give Stevens time to come around on taking the job or to see how May performed at a high major school is wrong, imo.

Logical and reasonable don't take their seats on the BoT until Quinn Buckner's term is officially over.

I'm pretty certain I heard some ex players talking about this on a Hysterics podcast....they didn't speak ill of coach, but if I'm remembering correctly, they talked as if it was his way of keeping them on their toes and out of trouble....as if they always had to be ready for practice or something like that...

And yet multiple players till got in trouble, including running over each other.

I get that but if we don't get May or Stevens - man the list I see with realistic opportunities is so much better then I remember during Miller time (but more importantly I don't count Woodson since I believe the stories that Buckner took over and forced the Woodson issue) .

The list I heard was realistic then:
1) Mack - we tried and failed (pure rumors but that's what I heard)
2) Miller
Others discussed:

3) Cronin (think most considered Miller a better coach at the time if I remember correctly)
4) Alford (heard he really wanted it but still had the ghost of Iowa following him if I remember right)
5) Donovan (oh the horse farm but alas everything I've ever heard it never got past curiosity stage)

I remember only being excited about Donovan tbh. But the current names thrown around?
1) the bar is low right now so everyone of them is a better coach imho
2) there's some real game changers in the list imho

Even as deep as 4 or 5 I see potential I haven't seen in the last 2 hires. I may be wearing my crimson colored glasses but I like our odds.
