Scott Dolson is. not. going. to. hire. a. coach. who. has. coached. only. 30. D1. Basketball. games. D2 wonder boy will not be the next HC at IU its a flat non-starter for me .

One good season in the Mo valley means NOTHING. Schertz won 30 games last year and is middle of the pack at St Louis this year.

Millions of dollars in NIL to manage, being able to recruit the portal/ Indiana HS/ National prep schools all stuff McCollum has 0 experience with.

I refuse to believe that McCollum is getting talked about for more than 5 secs. I guess since the search is going on as long as it is make sit unique as maybe because your trying to get your Moneys worth out of the search firm.

Him and Brownell would be the ONLY two hires that would make seriously for the first time in life consider NOT watching / attending IU basketball games

I totally understand where you're coming from but I think there's something to be said for the whole "winners win" line of thinking. He wins...a lot. Not my first, second, or third choice but would definitely give him a shot to show what he can do at this level.

I'm also really impressed with how well he spoken of by other coaches. Big "your favorite coach's favorite coach" vibes.

McCollum would be such a gut punch. Let’s have a guy with no experience run a multi million dollar corporation. This would be such a McRobbie type hire. Thankfully, I believe we have an admin that values sports now
Dude has one year of division one experience but let's hand the reins over to him because he won in division two. I'd rather hire bronwell and I think bronwell would be average at best.

It's never the wrong time to hire the right guy! Not advocating, but we don't know what we don't know!

Yup and he could very well be the wrong hire too. Issue is, we won’t know till after the fact. We don’t have the luxury to find out. Let’s get serious and get a proven power 4 winner

Ugh please no McCollum. I was hoping that was just message board hopes.

It’s not.  I know for a fact that he has talked with IU. He is a great person and great basketball coach.  Like others have said, concern would be recruiting at this level.

I agree. Tired of these "next best thing" options. Every time we've gone this route they can't handle IU. The pressure, the fans, everything. It ends up being way too much. We've got to stop taking chances on coaches. Hire someone who's been in a big boy conference for a long time and know what it's like. I'd take Buzz Williams over McCollum and I can't stand Buzz.

So Stevens is out, Beard is in? Is that correct?

No one has a clue what’s going on, sounds like multiple donors are saying multiple candidates according to AP.

I probably missed it in the nearly 2000 pages, but why isn't Todd Golden brought up more here? Someone mentioned warm weather at some point, but I can't imagine $7-8M can't change minds there. Buy a second house if you want.

Because Todd Golden is currently very well compensated at a better program in a better conference.

Could he use an IU offer to get a raise and extension? Sure! Otherwise, why would he leave UF for IU?

I’m sure he is, but this is probably the most important hire in post-Knight IU basketball history. IU has a golden opportunity to make a splash given NIL. The pressure to succeed immediately will be immense. Now isn’t the time to take a risk on a D2 coach with one season of D1 basketball under his belt.

To me, they count if you win or lose, doesn’t have to be the last round made. Two elite eights that produced 1 FF probably would have made more sense the way I look at tournament success.

You can do it however you want, of course. It's just that usually people just put the end results since then it's clear how many tournament runs are actually being talked about. The earlier wins are implied since of course they had to win that to reach farther. Just like how you didn't list 2 S16 but seeing E8 and FF you know that 2 S16 were reached and won. My point is that 2 S16, 2 E8, 1 FF sounds like 5 different tournaments when it's actually just 2. Clarity is a good thing. Your last sentence would have been clear.
