Wait you really don’t know how Pom works do you

I digress. The point is that Pope made a lot of sense for UK, and so they didn’t have to go beyond him.

Your time is better spent staring at the wall and watching paint dry my man.

simply because 1) I know there have been discussions and 2) I’m genuinely curious/ confused by the reaction to sharing that news.

I think you’re the only person who cares and wants to talk about him. Didn’t like him while he was at Maryland and I don’t like him now. No thanks.

Would be curious to see that as well. He was K’s lead recruiter for years, though if you can’t get kids to play for K that would be kind of an indictment. Would also love to know how restricting their academic standards are. For a guy from Chicago at a Chicago area school I don’t think he recruits that many Chicago area kids

Their academic standards are impossible.  Most kids from Chicago area school can’t even sniff NW cause most Chicago area schools suck.   You’re basically looking at Ivy League talent.

It’s starting to feel like this could very well mirror the searches of UofL and UK. Which, if you think about it, is probably the most logical outcome. I still would love to think that the IU job is appealing to a big name, but I’m starting to have my doubts. I’m sure those two schools thought the same with their considerable resources. If so, I guess whatever. As USPS has said, as long as he’s a grinder. Tired of IU basketball being associated with laziness and the definition of insanity. Give me a coach who is hungry.

And yes, I’m still bitter about the Dusty thing, in case anyone is wondering. Hope it doesn’t haunt IU.

We don't even truly know all the legit candidates for IU yet...but I can assure you there will be better options than Turgeon...
The last hire was a washed up coach with a mediocre at best record who NOBODY was pursuing for their HC position. That obviously worked so well that SD is thinking, "Let's go that route again!"?

I'm with you... there's dozens of better options than Turgeon.

No, obviously I don't. Which is why I said I didn't. A 37% won rate doesn't magically turn into 70% just because the recruiting standards change.

Great players make great coaches.  Recruiting standards are everything when competing in the power conferences.   In order for NW to compete that have to find basketball players with power conference talent and 4.0 gpa and 1500 SAT scores.   That’s a needle in a haystack.

USPS doesn't know how Pom works?
