Thank you. I was about to type that. Your dad is going to be the coach of IUBB you’ll make friends. As I tell my 18 year old all the time don’t make it about you.

…..that’s the vibe SS’s comments on Trilly’s made it seem to me. It’s like look, I’m getting this opportunity and your opinion matters, but it’s time to move back to Indiana.

Yeah, it’s the tried and true “let me check with the wife” when someone asks you to do something you don’t really want to do. If Brad wants the job then he’ll take it, but it doesn’t really sound like he does.

I’m familiar but if it was a contract negotiation ploy to lean on the Celtics, you wouldn’t care about NIL assurances

I don’t know if SS is correct or not but I’ve always wondered about his daughter and how awful the timing would be for her. I believe she is a junior in high school, that’s a rough time to pack up and move across the country. Likely worse timing than it was 4 years ago

If she's a JR, she doesn't have to move.  Mom and her can stay home, while dad comes and works.  Flies back on the weekends, etc.  It's a very short period of time and will go quick because Brad has a whole lot of work to do cleaning up the current mess.  Probably won't see much of dad that first year or two anyway.  :)

What are the odds that “NIL assurances” are the determining factor here? I don’t think there’s a single thing Brad could ask for that IU would say no to. The only question is whether Brad wants to be the coach. Everything we’ve seen suggests no.

Well I think the first offer was more years and top 3 of highest paid coaches, counter was highest paid by a lot but a few years less. Few other things like that. Just everyday things. But after all that was agreed to it's more on their end now.

Gotcha.  But if Dolson was in frequent contact with Brad, it seems like those particulars (or close to it) would take place before an actual contract was on the table—and not be that far apart.  Why mess around and not make him the highest paid coach right out of the gate?  Brad’s a reasonable guy—I don’t see him making crazy counter demands to toy with IU.  Again—who knows—but this version doesn’t square up.

I agree. My youngest was going into her senior year so she and mom stayed behind and I traveled a ton that year. Even if he has her blessing it would still be something on his mind.

Not a joke!

UVA is a basketball school and if they move on Pitino Jr we could be left in the cold!

No retreads please.  Getting fired from another job is a deal breaker.

edit: for on court performance in a college job.

I don’t think there is a chance big enough to calculate that Stevens is still deciding on what to do. Whether he is going to be our coach has been decided. It’s not like he’s sitting there going….does pizza express still deliver only bread sticks?

This is one interpretation of what we know. Maybe the right one!

Another extreme is to take the word of some of the folks with the longest track record on this board of knowing things that aren’t yet public, in which case it’s relatively simple to imagine there’s ongoing negotiations or even a verbal agreement (a written one would be subject to FOIA and even if you wanted to let the season play out without news you might not be able to control it).
