Popular Post VFury Posted February 23, 2025 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2025 Wade is where Sampson was right before he got to Houston. He paid the price and is atoning for it. But I get it, hiring Wade would mean we wouldn't be able to act like we're above everybody else, and he wins too much. thebigweave, Juwan Moye, BtownStrength and 11 others 12 1 1
Popular Post SlammySammy Posted February 23, 2025 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2025 Does anyone else think it’s kind of foolish to talk about “throwing off the scent”? Like this is some spy novel surrounding some goofs on a message board….The scent nobody but us here on the board seems to have? Come on…..the majority of fans are not here and have no idea who is going to be coach….doubful that Dolson is involved in any skullduggery because there really is no reason for it…think about it.. lillurk, CSP, mookied39 and 14 others 16 1

I could understand that. This hire, imo, has to be a proven guy. Can’t take a risk with an up and comer. A lot of good young coaches who may turn out awesome, but where iu is today - need a proven guy.

And some of these supposed rumored names are being thrown around by people who have a lot to gain by having any rumors. Yes and speaking for myself, it’s not that I even “want” Cronin per se, but find it pretty absurd that some people turn their noses up at the youngest active coach to 500 wins who makes the tournament basically every year. Only made the F4 in 2021 but he did it at the modern (lackluster) UCLA program so that’s unimpressive. Definitely no potential upside there at a place like Indiana. More to debate with a guy like Cronin than the obviously more desirable guys who may have longer odds of coming. Though I doubt Cronin comes either with the buyout. JF87 and Hoosierfan2017 2

We’re all message board warriors and just make up / believe anything. We’re desperate. i don’t think Dolson is sending fake flights bc he knows we’re tracking. I don’t think there are any intentional smoke screens. We All just know very little and wildly guess and speculate. Which makes coaching searches so awesome. and to the people that hear stuff and share what they hear … kudos. We appreciate it. It makes this board the best and why we refresh these pages more than paying attention to our actual jobs. lillurk and 8bucks 2

I think, assuming IU and Stevens are talking, that it's more than likely there are attempts to stop leaks and throw off the scent. Every time we have an opening, Stevens' name pops up early at the top of everybody's hot board. I'm sure people can understand why neither our current team nor current coach need that distraction, especially when they are still fighting for an NCAA Tournament bid. And I'm sure Stevens doesn't want it either.

Stevens and Dolson are both fans of Breaking Bad. Of course, they are using subterfuge to keep the hiring quiet until the proper time. Brad and Scott, both know it would be in poor taste to announce the hiring while Woodson is still coaching so we need to keep it under wraps for now. I'm sure they will thank you in due time for contributing to their misdirection ploy. hoosierbannerd, Ctf9 and SlammySammy 1 2

I’m hopeful it is still Stevens (the timing and dots connect in my desperate brain) … but I’m certain, if it is him, he most likely told Dolson he wants to work in his capacity as Celts GM through waiver deadline.

Just read through past pages and you will find them. Even Indy Star’s Doyle is pushing Cronin, the other names you may be right about, but there are people on this forum that have shown support for guys like Brownell and Pitino. I am still hoping for an elite proven coach, but the Cronin talk is very real and I would be very disappointed if that is the direction we go. bobknightsghost 1

His winning pct at LSU is literally Cronins at UCLA and that's the only thing going for Mick, which again, is less than uclas all time.
