I'm not going to speak for the others but I will :-) but I don't think you will see them on here sharing info unless it's Isaac. When we do and then Goodman releases a flimsy statement we get called names, bashed, and everything else. I know AP has been hearing it on the discord, I heard it here every day since last Friday, and RTZ just seems like Jerry staying away till the season gets closer to being over. It's easier to just discuss amongst ourselves.

That's a shame.  You guys are the best part of this board.  But I get it.

I will continue on the coaching candidate posts because I enjoy it but that's about it. If we don't get our top 2 I like McDermott, OTZ, and McCollum. That's about it for me. I could get used to Drew but the church stuff loses me quickly. Cronin is OK, I think he would win but just not my cup of tea.

That's exactly what I would do if I had friends :( (and they knew stuff). Seriously though - I think ITS POSSIBE Goodmans info was pointedly placed to say 'hey shut up - professionally I'm not going to burn a bridge and embarrass or put my current employer in a weird spot - they know it but there's no professional tactical advantage of announcing anything right now til it is 'done''. So pushing it could do harm to negotiations.

Not to mention it's still a fun exercise to debate and evaluate options - for me more fun then watching games sadly enough.....

I don't think using the example of UK having to settle for a lesser known coach is comparable to how much difficulty IU will have finding a top coach.  To me, I just think most coaches did not want the UK job because following Calipari and being expected to be better than Cal was very daunting and not worth dealing with the UK fanbase.  Cal set the standards of winning so high, even with his lack of tournament success in the last few years.

Louisville didn't have a Cal, and they did a good job of finding a good coach.  IU had Woodson and Archie.  No coach is going to be intimidated coming to IU.   Can you imagine?  I think we'll do great in getting our guy.  The bar is so low now,  I mean, how can we miss this time?

I get Drew has the Indiana (state)  ties and he's done very well at Baylor, but he just seems like a really, really, bad fit. I can't believe he's a real candidate.

He does win a bit more than our administration would like from the men’s basketball program, so I agree.

I think if you guys are expecting Drew, I think the only one we’d get is younger brother Bryce. That’s me throwing a random name out. Sure he sucked at Vanderbilt but he landed Darius Garland over IU if I recall. That season hurt after DG went down after like 6 games.

I think a good coach can win anywhere especially with NIL and there's plenty of examples, Kelsey, May and maybe Pope being examples.

I'm pretty sure you know the Hinton remark was to point out coaching isn't defined at what level you're at at the time and if a large class school  in the state was looking for a coach they should look at her.

Her dad is a hall of famer.Jesus way to twist something into an argument.

I so very much disagree.

And fwiw, May, had five years and a Final Four as a D1 head coach,  Kelsey had 12 years as a D1 head coach, and Pope had nine years as a D1 head coach when they were first hired for Power 5 jobs.

GCU has done well under B. Drew. We could certainly land worse candidates. I'd actually prefer him over Scott, just not a believer in S. Drew at IU for whatever reason

Great point above @DSUMMITT but I also see it as a great evaluation tool for certain coaches, such as Dusty May. "Can you effectively recruit an entire roster in a single year?" Dusty is one of the biggest winners from NIL new coaching jobs, whereas people like Shrewsbury at ND has been hurt from lack of success in navigation of NIL era roster rebuilds. AD's and committees will have to use great discernment in deciphering whether it is the coach struggling with NIL or university regulations/lack of funds causing the failure.

Good point on effective roster turnaround  - I think UM, UofL, and UK turnarounds have really made Shrew on the hotspot whereas even 3 years ago he would have had at least 4 years before hot seat was mentioned (his cubbard was bare at ND imho). ND has some tough admittance as well (son entertained the idea of going - decided on IU but it was almost a very expensive choice) so did that effect what he could get from the pool? It's burned UM in the past.

Make a case for Dusty May you say?

There are many details to seriously weigh

He learned from Coach Knight who turned many away

Dusty won a title in Conference USA

He reached a final four held in Houston’s sunny rays

Dusty has given Wolverine fans many happy days

His teams really like to shoot the trey

Dusty was born in I-N-D-I-A-N-A

And if the Hoosiers can provide suitable pay

It is a place he is destined to return to one day

dr seuss is that you?
