You aren't understanding my point. Louisville and Kentucky did not get well established, long successful coaches. We should be thinking about the possibility that Cronin, McDermott, etc are not gonna be the coach, which is piggybacking on the original post I was replying too.

If Self is checked out at a place where the established floor is so high, there’s no way he’s gonna work to get there at a new place. I was making this point before they got whooped in their last two games.

That said and I’ve chided the trolls on this repeatedly— I, and many I would guess, never thought chances of Brad was that realistic. 0%? No, there’s a chance. Over 25%? No way. So where does that leave us? With a ton of eggs in the Dusty basket. He says no? Where does that leave us?
Otz, Drew, Oats, Few, Beard, Pearl, et. al. Are not walking through the door. I’d put any of those at less than 5% chance if I’m being honest and making odds. So some combination of the field is what I would bet on. And Cronin isn’t a bad option of the field. Even he is moot anyways unless the buyout was renegotiated. No whale booster is gonna pay that ridiculous buyout for a Cronin. 

Good points.  I have lowered my expectations on what we are realistically going to get.  After the last let down I and thinking of someone in the field but hold out hopes we get a home run.

Also, sincerely, Cronin going off last night is not some secret message but man, if he wants the IU job I think he bites his tongue there.

That was my biggest concern with Dusty.  He needed to prove himself in a major conference before I’d entertain him.  He’s done that, for sure.

Woody traumatized so many IU fans with the “true fans” senior day comments a good portion of the fan base wants a coach who will “just do whatever it takes to win” and kiss fans butts even when it’s not warranted. Good luck finding a winner willing to do that. It’s like fans think they are the coach’s boss or something lol

Well the numbers say he is. If your “eye-test” says otherwise that’s understandable and I’m not gonna litigate it again, you and I have already lol.. we have different opinions on that, all good.

You missed the main point of what I said. He’s top-5 in the realistic options if we are being honest about who is coming to IU. No one here making a wish list is gonna have him top-5 because no ones top-5s are generally rooted in reality. Cronin is somewhere in the 6-10 range, which is most likely the pool we find a coach if Dusty says no. I’ve always thought that, but there was no reason to argue it, we had plenty of trolls here to tell us how unrealistic we were.

Exactly this... compare the commends Woodson made to/about the fans last Senior Day with how Cignetti called out the fans for the football team. Woodson drove the wedge deeper, and Cignetti was able to rally the fans around what he was doing in Memorial Stadium.
