The last coach we had that choked someone is still revered to this day. If Beard won, if not already would completely vibe with a lot if not all student body fans as considerable amount of fans otherwise

We did that with Archie….we need a proven winner, the money is there, Woody was never a proven winner and many people called it as mistake from the beginning.

Which is EXACTLY why no one should conclude that a smart hire will be made this time with the same people in place.  Buckner , schmuckner, the same team is making this call…

I have personally seen people who have been in as low or lower places than Beard, and have changed themselves to become well respected individuals who contribute to the greater good of society. All it takes is one person, one group of leaders, to give him the chance.

Don't disagree one bit with this paragraph.  But if you're Scott Dolson are you willing to risk your career to be that one person and possibly President Whitten's as well if she signed off on it and it blows up in the university's face?  IMO Dolson is not a gambler and he won't take that risk.  And I'm not necessarily directing my question at you but it's more rhetorical in nature.

My list if Brad isn’t available like Goodman says is Dusty, Dusty, he should already be the coach. I argued that with NGW till I was blue in the face. He wanted Woodson with a bankroll by donors. I ended up being right because anyone with any basketball knowledge knew Woodson couldn’t coach and Dusty can. If he says no I would do McCollum, then TJ. If we get that desperate then Beard or Wade. Flip a coin.

Don’t like McDermott?

McCollum is 43 and TJ is 47. My bad still a little distracted or mad from last night

I would take McCollum. He’s younger and cheaper. No worries I appreciate you checking.

Good coaches elevate the programs they coach at. Brad Stevens was Butler's most successful coach. Dusty May built FAU from the ground up. Brownell will have 5 tourney appearances in 15 seasons. There's nothing special about that.

Check Rick Barnes at Clemson.

Brownell? :)

Two things Brad Stevens and Brad Brownell have in common. They both were born in Indiana and both played bb and graduated from Depauw in Greenfield, IN. (Stevens 95-99, Brownell 88-91)

That’s about it. Lol ;)

I actually forgot about him. I would put him up behind Dusty depending on buyout. I love his offense.

I got room on the mail truck for another passenger let me know if you want a ride.  If May says no hop  on the McDermott tra…I can’t say the rest Strom said so hop in the mail truck

It kills me we could have Dusty right now and have a shot to win the conference plus some serious program building under our belt.  We would likely have Mullins, Sisley, and some other elite HS players committed for next year.  That would be sweet.

But noooo.  We are the opposite situation — program getting worse and a big rebuild effort required and Dusty may not come.  Brutal.  Just brutal.

To those that follow this stuff, who's on UNC's coaching hot board?  It feels like they're going to need a coach after the season too

It’s just nauseating that a sure thing in Beard wants the job and his past f ups are going to keep him from it. In the end it’s on him. I would like to think the guy has a new lease on life and knows there will be no 3rd chance if he messes up again.

Chris Beard is at the top of their list.  ;-)

You might have room for passengers on the McDermott truck, but I doubt you'd have room for McDermott.

Unless you got a bigger truck.

Dude's 6-foot-8 and probably goes about 260-270.
