If he was taking the job, he’d know it was ending soon. Surely you see the difference. He may not come here. That quoted comment from Stevens was basically the same thing May said. The part about not being a candidate was not quoted and it certainly could have come from him with the intention of shutting this down. But if you have followed coaching searches there have been soft comments like that and even more definitive comments from coaches who still end up taking the job. Taking a victory lap now as if his coming was the craziest idea and it is definitely over while basically just showing to this community is tiresome. Maybe you will be right. I am sure we find out soon. BGVille Hoosierfan, thebigweave and HoosierInParadise 3
HoosierFan1994 Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 one last item..IU is incredibly lucky to have Dusty May as an alumn. Look at UK and Louisville last year. All I heard was Dan Hurley to UK and Scott Drew to UL. They didn't hit "home runs" during their hire. Pope and Kelsey have done great so far. Point is, it's going to be really hard to get a very good coach to leave their current situation. Why I'm extremely happy that someone with the success of May, Cronin, McDermott would want to potentially come here. Iufan93 and thebigweave 2
Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 15, 2025 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2025 Apologetic that you thought Stevens was coming to IU. Been trying to have a serious discussion for 3 weeks. Welcome aboard. You clearly don’t pay attention. I’ve said it was Dusty from jump. Never bought into the Stevens madness. And it’ll be Dusty and he’ll coach circles around your precious Woodson. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Hoosier DaDa, 8bucks, cybergates and 6 others 9
HoosierInParadise Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Then why wasn’t the quoted part say “I am not a candidate”. Do I think brad is coming. No. But the quoted part was very vague and denied nothing. Harbaugh and Saban said worse things and look what happenedSent from my iPhone using TapatalkExactly! There is a way to definitively shut it down, and that is by coming out and fully addressing it like he did last time where there was no guessing. They know what they are doing when vague statements are made and it is anything but shutting down the noise. Smokescreen work because those that are gullable enough to believe them are distracted. I'll stay focused on the fact that he did not deny it himself and that we heard a weak statement from Jeff Goodman. Chris007 1

I honestly feel like the pool is much better this time around compared to 2021. Sure I'd love Dusty May. He is the top option. But...Why does nobody want Cronin or McDermott? I'd be thrilled if Indiana got them. Cronin has won at places that don't have the resources like IU...yes I know it's UCLA but still. Once he got Cincy going they made the tournament every year. At UCLA in his second year they had a final four run. Two Sweet 16's the seasons after that. They look like a team that can make a run in March. His teams play hard. I also think his personality is EXACTLY what this program needs. Look how UCLA has done since he called the team out. McDermott did an incredible job taking Creighton from the MVC to the Big East. Starting in 2019-2020, Creighton has been a contender to compete for their conference championship and to make the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I think they almost got to the Final 4...lost to San Diego State in a crazy game if I remember. I just don't get all the complaining. I'm sick and tired of watching this crappy play of basketball. As a fan, I want this team to contend for Big Ten Championships and make deep runs in March. Make it to the second weekend, anything can happen. Dusty May has proven he can do this. But so has Mick Cronin and Greg McDermott. I'd go as far to say IU is a top 20 team this year with either one of these guys coaching. Indiana probably isn't going to have a coach until late March. I'm trying my best to get behind this team and hope they can maybe make some kind of run. If not, I'll enjoy the rest of college basketball. I think Dolson will get this hire right. It just can't be Stevens or bust. Yes, he was my #1 choice. But he doesn't want to be here. I'll go: 1) May 2) Drew 3) Cronin 4) McDermott I still have a hard time with Cronin. I had May and Stevens tied and would be thrilled with either.
AH1971 Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 This board/thread will get a lot more interesting once everyone recognizes Chris/AP don’t know what they’re talking about. They get info (biased) from people who know people who MIGHT know people. If you honestly believed a sitting GM from the most famed basketball franchise in the free world was honestly going to give up his post in the middle of a potential repeat…shame on you. Shame on the people who fed you this nonsense for the last several weeks. Wreckless and irresponsible Truthhurts, 4iufourever, Jeff Flabjohns and 4 others 6 1

Popular Post Golfman25 Posted February 15, 2025 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2025 Gentlemen everything your hear on this site, or anywhere else, is both true and bullchit at the same time. We don’t know who the “sources” are. A lot can be the Ferris Buhler clip I posted. Unless and until it comes directly from Dolson or stevens, or any other candidate, take it with a grain of salt. Goodman posted a load of crap. Whether Brad likes the Celtics and his current job is completely irrelevant. That quote, if true, is simply self serving. So why isn’t the quote “I have told IU I am not a candidate” or “I told my friend Scott I am not interested?” That is the actual newsworthy quote. Everything at this point has plausible deniability. I guess we’ll see. moyemayhem, 8bucks, go iu bb and 7 others 10

Hornsby Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Regardless of stevens I'm just glad it seems we have tons on money to offer somebody good. And im not on board of going the cig route. Football was in the gutter so if they struck out no big deal nobody would care. Dolson cannot strikeout on this one period. We simply can't keep getting this wrong anymore. And really with the nil and money we have if he makes a crap hire he should be fired Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk Hoosierfanyuh and 8bucks 2

Stevens or a rep told Goodman what to print, which was deliberately concise. I don’t think we land Stevens, but him making sure Goodman use this language is interesting. It’s either a legit rejection of the Indiana coaching position, letting us down easy this time. (certainly most likely) Or it’s a soft denial, where the quote never mentions Indiana, and the “not a candidate” language is not directly attributed to Stevens. This would be a simple deflection, that gets journalists off his scent, and would be easy to explain away later. Again I don’t think he’s going to be our coach, but it’s certainly not a masshole press conference level denial. Banksyrules, thebigweave, T White and 2 others 4 1
