pappy1865 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Yes that be him lol Worked with Paul at Lee Company. I've been out there enough with Brandy and his crew over the years after Lodge in Riley, and Rob Mann's party last year I'm 100% certain we've met but I can't place the face. cleeter Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Otzelberger is my number 1 choice out of everyone and that includes the white whale May and McDermott are right behind him. I’ve been drooling over his offense at Creighton for a couple years now in the college basketball thread anytime they played. Called it must see TV. He is just a really good college basketball coach. He lost players to the portal after an Elite 8 run nembhard and Kaluma and the next year competed in the Big East again and made a sweet 16. Baylor S (not attempted to spell it ) graduated and they are plugging kids in and they are position to compete again. My problem is people saying IU is in position to tell a coach with his resume thanks but no thanks we can do better. I would figure after the years they have watched they would at least give someone like that a chance. I’d love Otz, but I believe his buyout is insane and I know his wife went to ISU. SoI’d say those chances are slim and none. And slim just left the building. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Although I think Otz might be in the McCasland area of not leaving the state they are in now.

JaybobHoosier Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 This is why I refused to get too involved and excited about Stevens. Was hopeful, but it was a long shot to begin with. Maybe we are lucky and it’s just a smokescreen, but IU has several options on the table that could be home runs. IU basketball will go on, and I still truly trust Dolson to get this hire right. I think he deserves that after the Cignetti hire. May, Beard, Pearl, etc are all good options that we can possibly get. Keep the faith and carry on! go iu bb, coonhounds, Ryno6284 and 3 others 6

Ryno6284 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 We ought to just take Painter from purdump! He has what we need as a coach and he wanted to play for IU, plus I think we could get him over "the hump" as a coach! WayneFleekHoosier 1

The football success had not happened yet, Scott didn’t have that political capital and track record at the time. At least Scott had the right idea after last season when literally no one else at IU did. Get mad at him if you want. No one else at IU has a clue what they’re doing so we have to hope he does. There was also all the weirdness with Woodson’s “retirement” just last week. We fired him mid season, but then let him finish out the season as a bitter, disgruntled lame duck who’s ignoring all his off the court media responsibilities. So, all these outside influences are still clearly lurking. It will take a certain personality to navigate them and make iubb great, and I just don’t see that in Dolson. Hopefully he shocks me.
