Stuhoo Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 I’m of reasonably belief that the primary “big-time” coach who would have mutual interest with IU and a doable price tag is Scott Drew. I’m quite a bit more certain that Archie is in his last season at IU. Chris007, Rookie33, lillurk and 2 others 5

Beard’s girlfriend & kids live in Lubbock. I think it would take a lot of money and convincing to get Brad. Oats won’t coach in the B1G just my opinion. His style fits the SEC. hard truth is B1G is tackle basketball most the time. Funny that Sparty started winning lately when izzo said screw I don’t have a good team and I’m going to muddy it up and tackle everyone. I’m glad Holtmanns style is working maybe it changes some but I wouldn’t count on it. Holtmann got tossed arguing calls when they played Izzo last Stuhoo, HoosierDYT, Chris007 and 1 other 4

Holtmann got tossed arguing calls when they played Izzo last If it's not tackle basketball how would Wiscy, MSU, and purdoodoo contend? I'd much rather the Big 1.0 fall in line with the rest of college basketball and reward the programs that put the most skilled/best teams on the court rather than the most physical. It hasn't done the Big 1.0 any favors in a myriad ways such as perspective, recruiting, and it could be argued the big prize. 323SGrant, lillurk and LIHoosier 3

Better than most options being thrown around. Will Indiana let him do his thing? That is the question. 8bucks and Stuhoo 2

Some Perspective IU by no means would be considered killing it on the recruiting trail but during Archie’s time here he has recruited the best or 2nd best by rankings in the conference. No, if I'm Scott Drew why would I leave something I've built where I've been allowed to do it my way to a situation where I'm only viewed as a success if I achieve more than I've been able to so far and an administration that won't let me operate the way that I have been? B1G basketball forces most more skill-based coaches to change. Underwood was the ultimate spread guy when he got the Illinois gig. He would never have recruited a kid like Cockburn. He had no fit in that structure. But after watching his offense get thoroughly disrupted by B1G physicality, he went out and brought in a hammer. Completely changed what he’d always coached. Same on D. Pitino did the same thing, just unsuccessfully. The 1 really successful exception is probably Beilein. And it’s just continuing to get worse.

I probably am as well but he's intriguing to me. Solid run at Rhode Island. With Bouknight, they look like they could be dangerous in March in year 3 at UConn, year 1 in the Big East.

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted March 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2021 Oats quote "Modern basketball, you're not catching a ball and putting it on your hip and staring at the defense for five seconds before you do anything. That's not how basketball's played anymore," Oats said.
