Again, the most popular winter sport in Iowa is WRESTLING.

Yup… If you want the limelight, IU is better. If you want to focus on basketball and doing your thing, Iowa is probably the choice for you. If you don’t want the limelight, you shouldn’t be at Indiana… but at a certain point, I think fans might want to consider why our support doesn’t seem to be a draw / positive for coaches… even when we can pay more and have more NIL. I don’t blame the fanbase for the past 25 years but at a certain point perception also becomes reality. We will learn a lot about how coaches think of IU based on who the hire is…

I am pretty sure this is from “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. I hope this doesn’t mean that we are only left with the bad and the ugly.

Didn't Clint Eastwood's character get the gold in that movie?

The more you look into DeVries, the more boxes he checks

-tutelage under two highly respected basketball coaches (Altman and McDermott)

-Highly successful at the mid-major level, set the standard at Drake

-P5 experience

-capable of leading overnight rebuilds

-success in the portal

-can bring a roster that should immediately contend in the B10

- Being a good coach is the most important thing.  Tutelage under 2 good coaches could be beneficial to that but doesn't necessarily mean it rubbed off.

- Good success at the mid-major level is a plus

- P5 experience but with mediocre results in a league not the same level as the Big Ten (not impressed on this bullet point)

- Basketball only has a small number of players (compared to football).  Overnight rebuild shouldn't be that hard in the NIL/portal era

- Sure but I don't think that separates him from the competition

- Hopefully said of most of the coaches we are talking about

Wasn’t it noted earlier in the thread that it typically takes two business days from the players request for them to officially be in the portal? So we’d find out if anyone is hitting the portal tomorrow in all likelihood, unless they choose to announce it themselves sooner

The schools have to process the portal request within two days. So it can take two days but I don't know how typical that is. I would guess it's actually unusual. There is also nothing stopping players who are entering the portal to make the info public themselves.

cmon

I'm not a flight tracking guy, this was just sent to me and figured I'd share it to let those that know what they're looking for decipher

Galen Clavio made a good point that nobody has entered the portal yet.

I was shocked we didn't see any names yesterday and am more surprised there haven't been any names today.

I don't think Dolson gave the players a name but one explanation is that he gave them enough to hold off until it's announced.

Or maybe said, we think you’ll like the new coach. If you don’t want to wait, go into the portal. But your time here is done. And you won’t be able to say you were coached by Jay Wright.

Yup, fair point. Someone mentioned Tucker may have been upset about Rabby’s tweet because of the possibility he was using staying at IU as leverage in NIL negotiations. I think there’s just so many unknowns it’s hard to connect the dots with any real certainty IMO.

Or... others could have done research on DeVries and come up with their own conclusions. Why didn't he play more P5 teams in the regular season?

His record against P5 teams was 2-7 in his last 5 years.

B- hire, leadoff single

maybe that is the best we can do

Prime Rickey Henderson might be able to leg it into a double....maybe, but it'd be close.
