Really tough day for me finally having to cross Cronin off the list after that performance. Please send thots and prayers.

If Pearl gets bounced tomorrow I am going to be in shambles trying to have any active coaches left.

I said a week but was only trying to estimate when our season would end, assuming we received a tournament bid.

As for what you’ve heard, it’s accurate. When it got hot after the Iowa and Illinois games, he wanted SD to publicly support him by saying he was coming back next year. Dolson told him that any evaluation of his performance was a post-season issue, and Woodson didn’t like that. He sought help from others and was told that we weren’t going to do what he wanted. I think he saw the writing on the wall and realized he wouldn’t survive. I’m not privy to every last detail and discussion, but that’s how it unfolded.

The discomfort in certain circles at IU (and from some very prominent alumni and friends) is palpable. He was and is extremely well thought of by a number of people, and no one wanted things to end this way. He’s been connected to IU for nearly 50 years, and that’s helped him build a number enduring relationships. Unfortunately, there were a few people who were concerned that his hiring would someday result in a less than happy departure, so they’ve proved to be prophetic.

He has nobody to blame but himself.

Get a room Quinn & Cathy

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.  I agree that BM to Iowa is the most logical outcome, BUT suppose his agent floated the Goodman rumor yesterday knowing the Iowa position would open today.  To put the scheme into motion, the agent then created BM to Iowa buzz for the sole purpose of creating a bidding war between IU and Iowa; BUT despite public opinion, knows his client wants the IU job due to resources, prestige and namely - more pay & NIL which is ultimately all he cares about it.

I used a semicolon, Kathy.

And here we go again most likely.  You have Chris Beard and Will Wade out there begging for the job.  But you'll screw it up again as always.  I think it's by design.

I believe it's by design as well. Knight showed them what happens when the coach becomes larger than life, they couldn't control him in the way that they wanted. Once he was gone, they decided to make sure it never happens again. Milquetoast losers are right up their alley.

I think you might be surprised that many IU fans and friends don’t look at every half of every game and want to fire or extend the coach based on that 20 minutes of play. Most had high hopes for him, especially given all of the previous disappointments, and they’re genuinely sad that it didn’t work out for him and for the University. Not sure why people find that so odd or unbelievable.

because he had it handed to him on a silver platter.  And instead of grinding his way thru and committing 100% to the job, he loafed it.  Then started blaming the fans.  He did it to himself.

Woodson? Agree. As for hiring him, we went after a long shot that had a very low probability of success, we went to Plan B and, with that in hand, thought we were finished. When he backed away, we were hasty, overly sentimental and willing to talk ourselves into something that proved to be too optimistic.

Care to elaborate on what they are doing different this time to ensure we don't get another woodson or Brownell?
