I responded to a post wondering if today was a good day to monitor FlightAware (I said it was not). Anything else I’ve stated has been factual, as well. Lastly, anyone who gets pissed off on a Friday because of what someone posts on an IU basketball forum needs to examine their priorities.

What if it were a Tuesday or Wednesday?  Are their proper days to be pissed off?

I keep going back to this - AP said it and it just makes sense.

There's gonna be a crap ton of noise till we announce - gotta keep reminding myself that if I hear a name, it's just a guess as far as this search has proven so far

Scenario/pieces of what others have speculated:
1) SD had his priority list but also wanted a second opinion so let search firm also come up with one
2) SD worked on his guys and so did search firm, of course keeping in contact
3) SD advances with names on list - this could have happened at anytime with agents/intermediaries
4) SD has 'his guy'  but he still has to do his due diligence with viable candidates and there's plenty of time so doesn't just stop
(just cause I love my first interview - I still interview other candidates and rank them - stuff happens)
 5) I assume this week (maybe earlier) he starts letting candidates know - but he greatly appreciates them so he may let slip 'Man so and so is a great coach - seriously considering' - heck that'll get a lot of those guys raises if nothing else. What I would do - you may be looking at them again in the future

A part of me thinks - if we hear their name it's more likely a 'thanks for playing, greatly appreciate your patience...' then an actual possible hire.

Cronin would be better but not worth the 16m buyout. Brownell shouldn't even be on the list.

KathyC is obviously a huge troll, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if she/he works in academia on some level. This isn't to offend anyone on BTB who does work at a university, but it is a strange place to work if you've only ever worked at a private for-profit kind of company. 

Her responses kind of show some of the issues that might indicate some of the reasons why IU has sucked over the past 25 years. How she focuses on minor, unrelated things (like grammar, etc...) or emphases "process" to a comical degree - that's true. I've seen it with my own eyes. 

I worked as a consultant for a couple of major universities and actually sat on a BoT for 2 smaller colleges at one time. I would almost laugh out loud at some of the issues that were brought up. It's that kind of stuff that totally goes on in college administrations that weighs down even easy decisions.

Don't get me wrong. Massive bureaucracy and groupthink and minor issues can sometimes be a huge problem at for-profit companies too (IBM in the 60s is a famous example that is taught in some biz schools), but it seems to be a regular part of life in unis today. 

I wonder what kinds of crazy conversations went on behind the scenes at IU led to the hiring of Woodson? And what kinds of stupid conversations are going on right now? 

Just a thought. There ARE lots of ACTUAL KathyCs in the admin of IU right now. Remember that.
