General Coach Candidate News

Recommended Posts

Assuming not everything in the last two hours is complete BS about BS…what does it say about Stevens that he won’t take this job for ~$9m but would entertain it for $11m? Either you’re up for coaching college again or you’re not. At this point his finances are set for life, so why is an extra $1-2m going to not only change his mind but make him actually be all in with what the job entails for years to come?
If we can offer someone 9 million a year we should not have to settle for some mid major. There isn't one other good coach that would come for 9 million a year and crazy nil money?

Tmz?

Please don’t compare me to those hippie LA creatures.

Hey, TMZ usually gets things right.  So you could be called worse.

If we are going to consider a tier 3 candidate with Indiana connections like Brownell, I have a suggestion.  This coach has a .657 career winning percentage.  At his most recent school, this coach has made the NCAA Tournament 3 of the last 4 years.  This coach has proven he can recruit top 25 talent.  This coach has played in the NBA and has former players playing in the NBA so this coach would have that selling point for recruits and portal players.

If we are going tier 3 candidates, give me Bryce Drew over Brownell.

I would take 80 yr old Homer Drew over Brownell.

I like Bryce... he was good at Valpo, and is good at GCU... but Vandy was rough... maybe too rough for IU... besides, I can see him at GCU any time... just a couple of hours south of me.

I'll throw this out...if Dolson actually lands Brad Stevens his new nickname should be "Eisenhower" because the Germans have NO idea where the allies are landing.

Are we the Germans?

I think people are overlooking that coaching at LaLu would have given him experience coaching high level talent as well as dealing with  the people around that talent. He also had to recruit that talent.

I watched two games on TV when HP was there.  My takeaway was they looked like they had NO coaching at all - just roll the ball out and let them use their natural ability.  Apparently Huss can coach, but I didn't see it in those games.

Vanderbilt is a tough place to win.  He was able to recruit NBA talent there which is an accomplishment in itself.  His top recruit, Garland, got injured and didn't return.

From everything that has been said about Dolson on how he is keeping everything quiet and no one is talking then where does these rumors come from.  A lot of them are probably coming from agents who has agendas and getting their clients raises. If Dolson is keeping this quiet then most rumors are probably bogus.

Pitino isn't going to leave NY, but he is 72 years old.

I would hope that IU isn't going to "retire" a 66 year old coach and hire a 72 year old coach. LOL

I understand that but I'd still take him over anyone out there right now.  Even if it was for only 4-5 years.

No.

I'm thinking the Germans in this context are the media guessers.

We're the American public ready for a successful invasion. : )
