That is the problem thinking we have to win big early. Do you want a quick fix or have long term stability.

There’s some concerns with me regarding Ben, that’s revolves around style of play. Consider these rankings in the B1G / P4 basketball. 
 
337 in D1 in 3PT ATTEMPTS / GAME

363 in D1 IN FGA ATTEMPTS / GAME

364 in D1 in PACE

OFFENSIVE RATING - 51

DEFENSIVE RATING - 31

That doesn’t get me excited. It doesn’t sound fun to watch although I watched the game today and it was pretty fundamental.

I am just wondering if we are just delusional or we just don't really pay attention to college basketball. Big time coaches don't need or want to come here because they can already succeed where they are right now. With the comment how we have the win right away just shows our mentality and why coaches might not want to coach here.

SOS goes into Defensive and Offensive which is why you see no low majors in the top 25.  UC San Diego is 39. Drake is the MVC top team.  With conference realignment MVC has dropped down a notch.  They didn’t get two teams last year with ISU and Drake.

What excites me is a 30-3 record. I take substance over style any day. I thought I read where his championship teams averaged over 80 points a game. Maybe he feels like this is the style he has to play for this team to win

I"m not 100% sold on him yet since I want a big fish hired.  However, a young Brad Stevens had no experience as a D1 head coach until he took over the Butler job, and all he did was win.  McCollum has proven that he can win championships (even though it was at D2).  You don't just win a championship (x4) by being an average coach.  Plus, he's already winning at Drake.  I might have convinced myself to be all in on him.

Someone posted it here, but he likes the slow pace to get ready for the tournament

Ill take McCollum over mediocre name any day….risky either way….one is potentially a future legend….we do this every four years anyway…..so worst case, see you guys again in 29

I don’t have access to D2 analytics, this style of play works for Drake in the conference. Do fans want to watch even slower basketball than what they did with Woodson?

Goodman doesn’t give a crap about softening the blow and his sources aren't on the IU side (he's said it's agents and other coaches (not IU) on his podcast). He wants the most clicks possible- more polarizing the info the better. I'm sure he heard those things but not from IU or someone in the know from our side.

I watched both their tournament games…..I was not yawning…..
