Yep. Going into last season it was the deepest IU team in 20-30 years, I think. By the end of the season...not so much. lol

OK, lets consider Plan B. who knows if we get Mgbako or not that is one crazy recruitment. Assuming we don't. With the combine invite list out there and Jordan Dingle, RayJ Dennis, Tyrin  Lawrence, Andrew Taylor, Devo Davis,  and Mongolian Mike not on it. What 2 do we want?

Tomorrow is the last day for new portaling opportunities.  
 

Hoping our staff knows the answer today so we can “tamper” before portal entries aren’t allowed. Lol

So, it seems our options are in front of us.  If it’s a no from Mgbako things will get tight.

Rayqwandis Mitchell commits to Penn State.  Strange career.

2018-19 at Idaho.  Transferred to UIC.  Sat out transfer season in 2019-20.  Played one year at UIC in 2020-21.  No D1 ball in 21-22.  Transferred to UMKC.  Played there in 22-23.  Transfers to Penn State.  4 teams, 6 years, sat out two of them.

scored a lot last year.  Shot a ton.  Averaged 17 points but took almost 15 shots per game.  35% shooter, 30% from three.

probably see some kids after tomorrow get announced later but their paperwork was done by tomorrow.   Grad transfers can enter the portal after tomorrow and will still be eligible

Arthur Kaluma from Creighton entering portal. 6’7 220. Might be more small ball 4. Testing the nba draft still though. Shot 31% from 3 last year

6’8” small forward.  Averaged 8.1 points and 4.7 rebounds as a freshman at Tennessee.  Ranked 19th in class of 2022.  247 described him out of high school as a slasher who did project to develop a perimeter game.  Only shot 11 of 46 from deep as a freshman but was an 82% free throw shooter.  Saw a statistical analysis of him that said while he was on and off offensively as a freshman that Tennessee’s defensive numbers with him on the court were incredible.

Another player that Trilly Donovan mentioned that there are rumors of entering the portal is Missouri’s Kobe Brown.  6’8” big wing who averaged 16 points and nearly 7 rebounds last season.  Shot 55% overall and 46% from three.

one item to keep in mind is that the SEC had a rule that if a player transfers from an SEC school to another SEC school after May 2st, they have to get a waiver from the conference or sit out a year.

That's what I thought, as well, but I also saw that there was some deadline for grad transfers entering the portal that was on May 1. Do you know what that deadline was?

Is it that recent grads can transfer at any time but students that were already grad students had the May 1 deadline? It's clear as mud to me.

It indicates the staff is doing their due diligence in case they don't get the outcome they want on Friday, which is what any college basketball staff with functioning brain cells should be doing. 

 

Recruiting literally never stops. I've never figured out why people assume coaches showing interest in one player means they've given up on another.

While I fully agree, sometimes it’s exactly what it means. We a staff publicly puts interest in a player at the same position late in the game, it can mean they know the answer.

That being said, Indiana hasn’t done any of those things which continue to give me some confidence in MM.

In the case of Phillips, it was more the IU media Tweeters that uniformly jumped on.

But, then sometimes the Media guys are used as mouthpieces. So, 🤷🏼
