Yes and he has his own thread dating back to 2016-2017.  He suffered a compound fracture of his leg in a high school game so he really has a history of injuries.

6’11” kid from UNC who lost basically 2 years to knee issues. Was a back end of the rotation guy as a Fr and nothing since. From the same part of Ohio as Hunter and had an offer from Miller. Great body, long and stout. Strictly a low post hammer offensively.  Was a pretty good mover and pretty quick off his feet before the knee stuff. Looked like he could be a pretty good defender. If his knee checks out, he’d have a chance to be a rebounder/rim protector/finisher in reserve. That’s a big if.

Looks like he was pretty decent year 1 (frosh expectations anyway), but then faded.

If we are just looking for a big to spell TJD at the 5 until Duncomb matures, then he doesn't look like a bad use of a 13th schollie for one year.

Yeah, maybe just some depth.  We have a pretty solid roster for the majority of our minutes, it may be getting more difficult to get one of the guys higher on the wishlist because of playing time concerns.  You know that TJD is penciled in for sure at one of the bigs.

IU wants post depth. Manley provides that and doesn’t necessarily expect to start. He’s also from Ohio so it’s closer to home. He’s just a name to watch over the next few days. IU would have to feel good about his health before they made an offer I’d have to assume.

There’s actually several differences. Starting with athleticism, wingspan, and potential upside if healthy. Oh and player expectations. That said he may end up someplace else and this talk was all for nothing.

Ironically Manley  from Pickerington and graduated from Jerome Hunters rival Pickerington Central a year prior to Hunter.

A paradox for IU is that nobody really wants to hit the transfer portal to play spot/backup minutes, and if you’re looking for a 5, everyone in the portal knows you’re returning an all-American there

What's interesting to me is while IU and Jerome Hunter are parting ways, I don't think Hunter's name is in the transfer portal yet.

His name isn't in the transfer portal right now according to verbalcommits, which has been pretty darn accurate.  I also know when IU handled their press release they simply said Jerome would not be a member of the roster in 2021-22 and wished him well on the future -- no mention of the portal.  I'm wondering if he hasn't entered due to personal issues.  I know Miller had alluded to some non-basketball issues toward the end of the year when Hunter had registered a DNP and that Miller was pretty vague on when he would be on the court again.
