I seem to remember Baumgart being one who doesn't really know what he's talking about but maybe I'm misremembering? What's his track record?

No idea on his source piece. But I’ll give him this: he highlights a lot of lower profile kids and when I’ve been able to check some of them out, have largely agreed with his evals. So on that side of things, he either knows what he’s seeing or he knows who to ask.

Been a lurker forever and this got me to jump in.

I see a ton of comments (not directed at you Golfman25) about this being crazy, ruin things, NCAA will stop it etc.

While they might make changes they can’t stop this without entertaining the whole employee/student issue. Regardless of that, I don’t think many BB and Football fans understand this is the norm in the majority of college sports. You have always been able to transfer without penalty in sports like soccer for example.

You may say this is different. Too much money at stake. Ok… but then you are back to the whole employee/student thing.

With minor changes, this is here to stay.

Appreciate the post. If you keep posting you will get that awful Purdue jockstrap off your name, unless you like that kind of thing.

Welcome aboard. You’re undoubtedly right.

I think they, the NCAA, are going to slam down on it.  No other league has this crazy free for all.  And while it lets teams literally rebuild overnight, it's also like Rec league where you never know who you got.

Free agency comes to college basketball.

So realistically, what are our chances with Love? I'm already seeing comments from Purdue fans who appear to be nervous about us getting him, and are dismissing it by saying it would be a mistake for us to bring him in.

The thought of Love together with X in the backcourt probably gives them FDU flashbacks so I'd imagine they are quite nervous!

I think it’s certainly a gamble. Sometimes when you gamble you win big. Other times you lose big.

I’ll say that some of the comments I’ve read from UNC posters basically say “not too sorry to see him go because of this past year BUT that some of the problems weren’t necessarily his fault and the right coach/system could turn him into a great player.” There also doesn’t seem to be a ton of animosity and he was mostly liked by the fan base.

We’ll find out a lot about Woody by the end of this year. Whether he even wants to roll the dice here and if/so how he manages the backcourt. I’ll stand by my assessment that successfully coaching a XJ/Love backcourt would be an absolute tier 1 coaching job.

To follow up, Rabby just sh** all over this guy and called him an idiot. Guess he does not agree with this post

Here’s what I love about the Shedrick to IU post even if not completely accurate. The NIL gives Indiana a fair opportunity to get some of these 5 stars and stud transfers without the obvious old time cheating that UNC, Duke, UK, and SEC has always done. It levels the $ playing field making it really about basketball, the school and the fans. Now Indiana adds the cash to what’s it’s always had so look the f out. Also, didn’t this guy just declare on Monday? Nobody sleeping on Woody and it appears he knows how to play the NIL game. Keep closing Mr NBA!

I think I prefer Shedrick over Ware, although the latter is getting more intriguing by the day.

He seems like quite a defensive presence.

Something doesn’t add up. Woody sort of complained he wanted to play a more perimeter oriented style.

Reneau is his biggest recruit so far. He’s a sturdy 6’8” post player. He’s not going to be a great shot blocker but he’s capable of guarding most college 5’s.

Yet we’re supposedly bringing in centers to play alongside him? How does that fit together?
