GaryP Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Honestly I think more would’ve transferred if Archie had stayed. Bring in a serious replacement and I wouldn’t be surprised if they all stay (if the new coach wants them). Hopefully this increases the chances of Lander staying. He’s the one I was most worried about leaving. I think most will wait and see who comes in. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 15, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2021 Key timing early with the news. The transfer market will be bigger and better than ever. We need the next coach to have the chance and timing to cash in on the opportunities that are out there. Our current roster isn't good enough to win big. We also have time for our current players to decide their plans. This timing is excellent, however aligning the next coach needs to be timely as well to optimize all the benefits. Let's Go! theriverpilot Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 That was one tight-lipped process. Hardly any leaks whatsoever. Regardless, it's done and hopefully this is our last basketball hire for some time JaybobHoosier, Chris007 and MemphisHoosier 3 Quote

mdiu28 Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Archie will be fine. Just wasn't ready for this stage. I hope to see him back at a large program someday. Just isn't ready. woodenshoemanHoosierfan and JaybobHoosier 2 Quote

Stromboli Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Best of luck to Archie and his family! Hope they land in a good situation. It’s hard to be happy right now with yet another tournament starting and our team not in it. And this is why the change had to happen. And I think there was very little evidence that this thing would turn around. Can’t wait to hire our next huge embarrassing failure! kottke and HoosierFan1994 2 Quote

They have to have significant interest in high level coaches to pull the trigger now. Hopefully it retains the players we need, motivate the ones that need it, and attract high level talent to make IU relevant again!!! It's time to quit D***ing around!!! mark1981 1 Quote

Popular Post Str8Hoosiers Posted March 15, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2021 No search committee needed - Sounds like he knows who he wants. Money wasn't a problem as it appears Boosters stepped up for that... Class of '66 Old Fart, WayneFleekHoosier, Hoosierfan2017 and 9 others 12 Quote

I wish him nothing but the best. When he came to talk in Evansville he stayed for over an hour to visit with fans. He was super nice to me and my step dad. I wish it would've worked out. I thought he was the guy. But this move had to be made. I would love to see him at a school like UE. ALASKA HOOSIER, woodenshoemanHoosierfan, Hoosierfan2017 and 8 others 11 Quote
finky Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 My guess is they already have an agreement with the next Coach. I don't think you make this move and figure it out as you go. Too much money involved. Plus, you get the new Coach in, talk to players and recruits and give them time to make the decision best for them. ALASKA HOOSIER and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote

Obviously, time will tell but to me, it depends a lot on who's announced as our next coach. I won't be surprised to see kids put their name in the transfer portal to keep an option open, but it's not a guarantee they'll end up leaving. I would definitely expect Duncomb to ask to be released from his NOI. Quote

The work to find the next leader of Indiana Basketball will begin immediately, and I will seek a chief executive that I can partner with to reestablish the brand and national presence of Indiana Basketball.” No Fred Glass style search committee for this hire.
