LamarCheeks Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Last year, we lost our OC. This year, it could be the DC. Wommack previously served as DC at South Alabama. Both the Jaguars and Arkansas State are in the Sun Belt -- which is FBS. I must admit, I never thought I'd see a Hoosiers defense play like it has this season. And whod've ever thunk programs would be looking to our staff for head coaching candidates. Yet another credit to how the program is faring under CTA. Quote
DChoosier Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Bummer, but not a surprise. I go back to the days of Corso, the Memorial Stadium Nebraska massacre and Holiday Bowl and do not remember another year in which I enjoyed watching our defense so much. The attacking nature, and schemes, are a thing of beauty. He will be missed. 323SGrant and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 If it happens it’s a bummer, but I’m not as worried about our defense. With Allen being defensive minded and the one that started that turnaround when he was brought on by Wilson, I think we will be just fine. Still, a big loss!Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners MemphisHoosier 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 To be expected. Congrats to Wommack on what is inevitable great news for him. Quote

I hope of he does leave that he stays with us through a bowl game Quote

Dalton26 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Honestly I’d be more worried if our OC left, but thankfully Coach Allen is a defensive guy. Congrats to coach Womack! It’s nice seeing our coordinators leave for head coaching jobs instead of lateral moves to other staffs. So do you all think we hire someone outside the program for DC, or does someone like Coach Peoples, Coach Shelby or someone internally get the bump? mdn82, johnsoniu, JaybobHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

MemphisHoosier Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 It appears that Dwike Wilson will be joining Wommack as well. Good move for Wilson, I will have to add South Alabama to my 'second favorite team' list with Coach DeBoer & Coach Inge's Fresno St. squad. JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

But our DC position now carries a little more weight than previously. CTA won’t have a problem finding able candidates providing the bean counters are willing to open the pocketbook.Congratulations and good luck to coach Wommack. LamarCheeks Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Well, it looks as if it's pretty much a done deal. As Hawk Harrelson (I detest him, BTW) might say: He gone ... Thanks, Kane -- and best of luck at USA JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Latest story I saw said it's uncertain if he will stay with IU through the end of our season. I'm always torn on those things. It's always difficult to tell if someone who's leaving is committed to finishing up strong at their old gig, or if they've already checked out -- so to speak. He's 33 -- and will become the youngest head coach in the FBS. JaybobHoosier and cthomas 2 Quote

Bobman1 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Congrats to Kane! A sign that IU is a program trending in the right detection, I can’t wait to see how he does at South Bama. We will certainly miss Wommack’s defense and whatever other coaches he brings with him, but I imagine many coaches across the country would kill for the opportunity to coach with Tom Allen. I have full faith that CTA hires the right man for the job and the defense continues their dominance!Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners WayneFleekHoosier and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
