Wasn’t able to watch the 1st half, but overall liked what I saw. Some moments where things stalled on offense and guys looked complacent, but overall looked good. Providence hit some tough contested shots to get to the score they did.

I was worried about this game, glad the team showed up today!

Yep I would agree.  He looks like a 17 year old the first couple of games.  He is probably hurt most from the lack of cupcakes.  But he is 17, with a 15 year old body.  He will be good next year.  He has an elite skill that plays once this slows down.  I think his best ball this year will be in January.

Yep, and not a big surprise as he does not have a BT ready body. It’s just game 2 and I’m confident he will have a very good career. My comment was more in regards to how he has probably been “the man” his entire life but he has jumped into a whole different arena at a very young age.

5-14 for 35.7% from deep isn't bad considering Lander and Galloway had two questionable 3 FGA in the first half.  Durham's banker helped that percentage a bit too.  Not bad deep shooting from our starting lineup.

Oh for sure, and I completely agree with you.  He wasn’t just the man, I am sure he thought he would come in like most fans thought and he would take over.  Al is 22.  Rob is 21.  It’s going to be hard for a 17 year old no matter how talented to get more than 15 mpg even if he is playing good.

Hmmmm....

Trayce was way off, yet we won by 21 against a top 50 team on a neutral court?

Hmmmm...

I think I am happier about this than anything.  When in the last few years have we won without the man being the man or having Green hitting turnaround 25 footers into double teams?

His way off game was still 12 and 7.  It did take him 15 shots to get there but with Race crashing the offensive boards it didn't hurt us.  I was expecting the numbers between Race and Trayce to be the opposite.

Definitely! Still early, but this performance helped eased some of my worries. A lot of basketball to be played but I like the improvements shown from game 1 to game 2.

This beats our last two Maui openers where we suffered embarrassing losses to Wake and Notre Dame. Happy to see Race had best game of career and this was one of most dominant performance in Archie era against a Power 6 team to go with Marquette, FSU, Illinois, Iowa last 3 years.

Best thing about this is we get to play good Power 6 teams the rest of Maui Tourney rather than Davidson and UNLV which is huge for NCAA resume. Will get Texas, Stanford Alabama or UNC rest of Maui which makes a huge difference in NET. Reason we ended up as 5 seed despite winning Big Ten in 2015 is we lost two better games in Maui and ended up playing St Johns and UNLV instead with Wake loss and moved us down 1-2 seed lines. This won't happen this time and we will get three pretty good teams that will prepare us for Big Ten and postseason tournaments.

Awesome game to watch! Also 75% from line which is much better and needs to continue.

Wishful thinking.

He's going to have a great year. Doesn't mean he'll be maxed out every game.

Doubt he’ll be back but when your dad’s a former long-time NBA player there won’t be the external economic pressures we sometimes see player face when deciding to leave. So there’s that positive at least lol.

I’ve yet to see a mock draft with him in the first round is all I’m saying

I've yet to see a mock draft with him in either the first or second round.

IU fans have built up quite an echo chamber when it comes to this stuff.
