schoosier Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 This tells me Green hasn’t progressed more than Rob has excelled. Romeo and Juwan both need to stay healthy all year and both aren’t built as bruisers so I’m not concerned on effort in practice with those two. Romeo needs to get us 25 ppg and Juwan 17 & 9 if we’re gonna have the kind of season we hope to have. The others are earning PT now in practice and because shooting will be a premium; Al & Green may be on the outside and Damezi & Hunter could get those wing minutes. Both are better shooters/ scorers also. Green has potential but takes horrible shots and tries to make too flashy passes combined with inconsistencies we cannot have at point. Quote

Well keep in mind it was one practice, the first one where they ran full court and some were battling colds. I was a little discouraged until after when the first words from Archie’s mouth were along the lines of - we looked terrible. That gives me comfort that he will get it righted. I forgot to mention that it was good to see Clifton work down low some. He was more willing to play down low and hit a few hooks. WayneFleekHoosier Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Cool experience 8bucks. Yeah as you said, panic off of one practice isn’t necessary. Archie will motivate using the bench this year. It’s going to be magical. I have the most confidence in Fitzner, Juwan, McBob and Romeo. I’m taking the wait and see approach to Green, Durham, Smith. So so so many other pieces that can be good and useful. Race, Phinisee, Hunter, Clifton, and others. Im ready to see some basketball and hope Archie is right that shooting has improved because it was his focus in the off season and it’s our biggest need. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appRight there with you with being discouraged until Archie spoke. Didn't completely resolve that discouragement, but knowing that he knows was enough to help calm some of those fears. I was also there (and from the looks of that picture you were almost right over my shoulder lol) and spent some time focusing on Clifton. You could tell he was much more with it this year than last, and was looking for contact down low. I'm still not sure how he will fit into the rotation, but having the willingness (and the body) to bang should earn him some minutes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Agree. I expect more like 15-18. If we have to get 25 from him, we're in trouble because it means our shooting hasn't improved over last season. BGVille Hoosierfan and MikeRoberts 2 Quote

Gordon did all that while being injured most of the season he was absolutely incredible and was an impact defender as a true freshman. If it weren’t for injuries he would’ve made at least a few All-Star appearances but they kept him from his true star potential. It’s amazing that he has recovered to still be an elite role player, really speaks to his skill level and bbiq As I see it Gordon came into his freshmen year as a stronger, better shooting, more aggressive to the basket version of Romeo. I do think Romeo is better with the ball in his hands generally, but I give Gordon the nod defensively as well. I would be thrilled to see Romeo eclipse Gordon but I don’t see it. Romeo will get plenty of possessions and opportunities but I don’t think he’ll get THAT many and I’m not sure he’all be aggressive enough to get to the free throw line as often as Gordon did either. I think he’ll be very efficient and score in the mid teens. yogisballin, thebigweave and HoosierX 3 Quote

Josh Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 As long as we're talking about Eric Gordon's stats here, let's remember that DJ White was unanimous Big Ten POY that year. DJ was so good that year that he had it wrapped up with 5 games to go. Hopefully Romeo can have that level of help on this team too. ALASKA HOOSIER, GloryDays, thebigweave and 4 others 7 Quote
