Also this comment baffles me. Cuz he was nowhere near nba prospect last year

Someone may have "popped off" that he was gone because we fired Crean or something.  We look at it as though Archie sold only Hartman, Smith, Durham and Moore on sticking with Indiana, but he may have had to sell more players.

Our recruiting does not act like he is going anywhere. If we pushed hard for a grad big after he announced I would be more concerned. By all accounts I have heard him and Archie are close. I doubt Archie is that far in the blue.

Assuming things to be factual when they are many possible outcomes is either arrogance or ignorance. I think Juwan is more likely than not to come back, but the G League is stepping up its offerings and I’m not ruling out a few NBA teams having a unique interest in him.

Yes the G-League now offers a salary that allows them to compete with professional NBA 2K leagues for athletes. Both pay $35k/year.

Show companies aren’t killing themselves to pay undrafted G-League guys though. In some cases their deal might just be free gear/shoes.

True but OAD players who may not want to go to college might look at the G League + shoe money and go that route.

Maybe wrong topic but it’ll fit.

Without injuries or redshirts, 13 scholarships is too many to manage in my opinion.

The best teams normally play 8 guys the bulk of the minutes then maybe up to 10 getting some play.

That leaves 3-5 scholarship players not getting much time. In today’s age, with early contributions from Freshman, it is nearly impossible to have 13 rostered players and all of them happy.

My thinking, the way Archie is recruiting, spots 6-13 will soon be subtle talent differences. It will be difficult to determine minutes and PT without people being unhappy. I suppose that is when you start seeing transfer numbers rise.

It’s a tough job, I don’t know how you really manage it. I suppose if injuries happen or players leave early it creates more opportunity. I could see this becoming a major discussion point over the next few years.

Completely agree. The quality of the players being recruited can all play major minutes at big time programs. Some are not going to get the minutes they expect and will likely move on.

Timely comment.  Just within the last week or two, one of the coaches of a D1 women's program made that very statement and advocated for a reduction to 10 for the very reasons you cited.

Agree, though I was more referring to a guy like Juwan, not a guy like Darius Bazely. I do wonder what Bazely will get, he’s not remotely a household name. He’ll get some press for being the first guy to do what he’s doing, but he doesn’t/won’t have the name recognition of a Reddish or Zion Williamson.
