schoosier Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Did we have a to left? 1.7 we could have gotten a better look. Their kid stepped up and made the shot. They won more than we lost and had infinitely more talent until Dakich came in the game. Quote
Bailey7878 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 You just can’t shoot 50% FT when you’re playing the top teams and win.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersNopeSent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Milldawg12 1 Quote
Whoozhers Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Good defensive stand, Johnson gets the board and travels because Newkirk knocked him down. Morgan gets a go ahead layup and Newkirk plays terrible defense and gives up the winning shot. Does he have to finish the year or can we go ahead and kick him to the curb? Because he deserves the latter.I know what you’re saying but, I think possibly Newkirk was in a better position for the rebound. I think it was his to bring down.Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

LIHoosier Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I was really hoping MSB had a 15-20 minute speech. Collin didn't have his nuptials tonight. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Popular Post cthomas Posted February 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2018 Ohio State won the game tonight. I can live with games like this. I don't think we lost this game. They miss that last shot and we win. That's how the game goes sometimes. They are a good team and we took them to double overtime and lost on a last second shot. Congrats to them. But let me say this to the big ten, "We are coming for you!" When CAM has his guys in place, look out! HoosierHoops1, ALASKA HOOSIER, IUBBFan1970 and 6 others 9 Quote
cbp4iu Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 (edited) I’ll probably get bashed but oh well a good PG wins this game. Edited February 24, 2018 by cbp4iu IUBBFan1970 1 Quote
bleedhoosier Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Just Smith is going to be dang near unstoppable soon. I'm so pumped about a Morgan/Smith combo next year. I really wanted that for Rojo.. I can't imagine how he feels right now. Yall can be mad at Josh but he played a decent game. Who u should he mad at is McSwain. I watched him mope around all game not engaged. No defensive stance, mediocre awareness. Not sure if he is sick but other than a big late rebound, he was dissapointing. And.. IUHAHN81 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I'm tired of treating games at Assembly Hall like it's a local recreational center. I CANNOT stand losing at home like we have. Depressing. IUBBFan1970 1 Quote

But Newkirk seems to always make a mistake in big situations. Honestly what happened to Green? He has disappeared the last 2 games? pumpfake 1 Quote

IMO, there is absolutely no excuse for a player or team to be so poor at the line. High School girls (entire teams) regularly shoot 75% or better. HinnyHoosier 1 Quote
Aaron Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 This game feels like a bad case of deja vu with some key differences. I am fast forwarding back to Feb 13 2008. This was the day they implicated Sampson and his recruiting violations went public. Later that night Brian Butch beat us on a 3 with about 4.5 seconds left that cost us Big Ten Title when we had just taken the lead a few seconds earlier in a back and forth game. Also throw in that my buddy who I was at the game with had a bit of a flu and upset stomach he was recovering from. Now fast forward to tonight and we lose on a 3 with 1.6 seconds left from about the same spot but a couple feet further out (only other time since we have lost a lead at home with under 10 seconds left was atrocious PSU meltdown in 14) after taking lead a few seconds earlier. Also IU gets somewhat implicated in FBI scandal and I am recovering from a bit of a flu and upset stomach. Obviously a few key differences in that this loss didn't cost us a Big Ten Title or even an NCAA appearance since we are a middling team. Also the implication on the scandal is no where near as bad (yet and hopefully it stays that way) and we are far from the only player so if anything happens to us it will happen to dozens of other programs also. Obviously the 2 nights are not alike in every way but in my world there are some strange similarites. Iugradman and thebigweave 2 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Got home from being out to see the end. What a buzz kill. Just can't get over the hump this year but free throws good lord. Probably cost us three wins.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
HoosierAloha Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Free throws. That's cost us several games now. That has to be addressed over the summer. I still hate the Big Ten. There's no consistency from game to game or play to play. That one ref man..Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners LIHoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER, Iugradman and 2 others 5 Quote

That one ref man..Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersInteresting that when I (quickly) look at Dayton's past team season stats on their website, they didn't have a FT% of 70+ under Archie at least since before 2013-14.I can understand emphasizing other aspects of the game, and would agree that the better defense, better inside offense and less turnovers you commit (the areas it seems Archie has most improved the team this season), the less help you'll need from free throws. I just hope that if a low FT% is commonplace, that we play efficiently enough in other facets to offset it. IUBBFan1970, ALASKA HOOSIER and HoosierAloha 3 Quote
Popular Post IUHAHN81 Posted February 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2018 On the free throw topic, sure I guess coaches can help with form etc but dang man, at this level, u shouldn't need a coach to baby you on how to knock down at LEAST 70% from the line. Goodness. southsidehoosier, Ranger78, IUBBFan1970 and 9 others 12 Quote
Myrmidon76 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Yeah...FT's are kind of a personal thing IMO. I wouldn't too much into the Dayton stats...those guys had gigantic holes throughout their game, but worked really well together as a team. FT's are just about reps and confidence. Indiana kids have been shooting FT's since they could hold a ball and if we are making Indiana kids our core...our ft percentages will rise naturally. Popular Post rebelhoosier848891 Posted February 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2018 This loss still hurts... but in my anger and frustration last night I forgot to say —Thank you Seniors. They have all had some bright spots for IU basketball and they all except for Priller helped us win certain ballgames. Even Priller set the standard for bench players as he was always a crowd favorite and kept our blowouts interesting to see when it would be —Priller Time! RoJo in particular did some great things at IU and he is high on several top performance lists in IU history—especially for 3 pointers. I love watching RoJo play D. I will never forget Hartman’s hustle and grit playing through injury after injury. I will always wonder how much more a healthy Hartman could have helped this and past years’ teams. Freddie Mac also greatly improved his game and Newkirk battled inconsistently but when he played well it helped take us to another level. Thanks for working hard seniors and representing IU and us without the scandal we have seen in the past. None of them had to come to IU but each one of them did and now they will always be Hoosiers! I would love to see them lead us on a deep Big Ten Tourney and NIT run! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ALASKA HOOSIER, IUBBFan1970, Myrmidon76 and 7 others 10 Quote
