HoosierFan1994 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 4 hours ago, LamarCheeks said: I read the Detroit Free Press story last night and boy, is it disturbing. There needs to be some massive housecleaning at MSU, in my opinion. When the alleged victim went to report the incident to the MSU Counseling Center, they were very helpful -- until they learned she claimed to be raped by basketball players. Then, things really turned. It was made clear to her "that if she chose to notify the police, she faced an uphill battle that would create anxiety and unwanted media attention and publicity as had happened with many other female students who were sexually assaulted by well-known athletes.” That's despicable. ... Tom Izzo has claimed all along he wants to be part of the healing process. At this point, I think him stepping down would be a big first step in that process. If the woman was coerced and became too afraid to report the alleged crime, where did that intimidation come from? If not Izzo, it had to come from someone within the athletic or basketball program. On a sidebar related to IU, I still think how Steve Alford handled the Pierre Pierce issue might have cost him the IU job. Unless Fred Glass was creating a smokescreen, in his news conference announcing the firing of Creen, his checklist on hiring a new coach sure seemed like a beckoning to Alford to come on home. But I think there was such a backlash about his conduct, I think Glass decided to go in another direction. I could be wrong, but I think that was a big part of it. I agree with you on both Izzo and Alford. I think the Pierce issue changed the way a lot of people view about Steve. That and he isn't a great coach. He won't be around at UCLA much longer. Bailey7878 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Totally agree. Izzo has a daughter, how could he not do anything to those players. But the person telling me this is good friends with Izzo and he still swears it's all ESPN fault for reporting everything. They are delusional up thereIzzo is not going anywhere. He is their Roy Williams.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

Interim president tried to coerce a Nassar victim into settling: https://deadspin.com/msu-board-meeting-erupts-as-larry-nassar-victim-says-sc-1825245090 Why doesn't someone step in and fix this whole mess? It feels a lot like the NCAA situation dealing with cheating basketball programs but in this case it's people actually getting abused. This is disgusting and everyone related to any of this should be canned and never be allowed to work around young people. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

This MSU President must have huge ones (or no conscious) to present a tuition hike. That's absurd... Quote
Blackmon_for_3 Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 MSU is screwed as they deserve. You know it’s bad when the interim president id shady. I see no other option besides cleaning house top to bottom. Just unbelievable really. Iugradman 1 Quote
323SGrant Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 I don’t see how the entire university remains in place. This isn’t just an athletics department issue. Deserthoozier Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) How’s Uncle Izzo doing with his steadfast commitment to help the victims and community heal? Can you imagine as a parent thinking...yeah, I want to send my kid to that in environment? And great! Glad I can help out with some extra funds to help them get past the Nasser issue. Sign us up!! This is my take for students and recruits even considering MSU. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to send my daughter to a school with this type of actions by the athletic dept. It’s despicable quite frankly. Deserthoozier 1 Quote

darB s'tI Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I used to somewhat admire Izzo. I loved how he recruited, loved his offense. He seems like a family guy. He's now worse than Calipari in my eyes. It's a travesty that there's no punishment for their BBall and FBall programs. I told some guys I work with "just have a daughter and you'll understand". F'ing disgusting. I hope they get a far more severe punishment than Louisville did for cheating. This is far, far worse. Jam, CottageGrove, HoosierTrav and 2 others 5 Quote
