Nothing from McIntosh today. He usually averages about 20 against us.

Newkirk was all over him all game.  Rojo always gets credit for being our best defender,  if Josh can play D like that and that keeps Rob a little fresher i think his shooting takes a major boost.  Didn't seem to be fading as much today,  possibly a product of fatigue?

Was at the game behind the basket. First one of the Archie era! Was great to get a win.

I watched the coaching staff a lot tonight and they absolutely have control of this team. Constantly talking with players and helping with positioning, mistakes, etc. Coach really got into McSwain when he gave up a dunk and kept talking with him throughout the next huddle. It’s refreshing to see teaching and discipline with this staff.

Dang!  And they did it without flash cards - truly amazing.

Seriously, I always loved sitting in the bleachers behind the basket at the IU end.  Glad to get a personal account of how the coaching staff works during games.  On a side note, many years ago I had a couple of extra tickets in that area so I gave them to a friend who brought his wife - she spent most of the game watching RMK and it happened to be the game when he stomped on a player's foot (Patrick Knight ?).

Agreed. If Newkirk consistently shows up the rest of the season IU will be very tough. 8-12pts, solid perimeter D and no idiotic turnovers, in other words, what you would expect from a 5th yr PG.

A bit OT, but I've been really rooting for Zach M. to start hitting some shots.  He had one (3-pt ?) yesterday that looked good but rimmed out.  Out of curiosity I did a quick search to see what kind of shooter he was in H.S..  It appears he was at least a decent shooter his senior year (48% FG, 50% 3pt, 71% FT).  Archie has said that he's surprised at the shooting accuracy - that the players impressed him in practice as being better than what they've shown.  Maybe it's just coach speak, but at some point I have to think we'll at least have a game where we DO shoot well.  If we can show some improvement in accuracy along with the improving defense, we will exceed pre-season predictions considerably.

I think he is saying that for confidence. We have 3 games all year where we have shot 50%. That is the opposite of the Markelle Fultz situation.

You may well be correct, no player has shown shooting consistency half way through this season (perhaps save Morgan).  I'd still love to see us have one of those unconscious shooting nights when we play purdue.

With this whole damn divorce thing, I totally spaced the game and was at the movies with my 5-1/2-year-old. I managed to get it on DVR and watched it last night. I always enjoy reading the threads AFTER the game if I don't participate during. Funny stuff.

Nice to see some stout D at times, and the offense doing its thing in the 2nd half. Hoping they post the AJ tribute online somewhere. Also nice to see some order restored in the fact that IU kicked their arse good!

Friday is gonna be tough, but hopefully, the right Hoosier team shows up!

Our defense improved dramatically over the past two weeks. Without Davis down in the paint slowing us down and hedging all ball screens, our rotations and GAPs seem to be much improved in the pack-line.

Good to see RoJo and Josh have solid games. While they both drive me crazy, I hope they can contribute in their final two months playing here at IU.

I'd be impressed if we made the dance. At this point, if we make the NIT then I'll call it a good season. While that sounds sad saying, I just don't think this roster has enough talent to consider them a MUST in the dance.

Happy for Archie and the staff.

This illustrates how important having the right type of players in the program to play CAM's system is. Who he is recruiting should tell us exactly how he wants to play.

I think where he's recruiting is also an indicator.  I just don't see a lot of east coast players headed to Bloomington in Archie's tenure.  I think the general style of play on the east coast just doesn't mesh with Archie's philosophy.  I think we're going to see a return to predominantly midwest recruiting.   I'm in no way implying we won't recruit those kids (Jake Forrester) but they aren't going to be the dominant part of our future rosters.

I see what you’re saying (ahem, Devonte Green) but some of Archie’s best recruits have come from the East Coast. Namely Scoochie Smith who ran point for Archie for four years.

Guys, I didn't say we wouldn't recruit the east coast but it's going to be much more selective recruiting and won't dominate the make-up of our roster.

Oh for sure. Thats fair. It never made sense with this much in state talent.

Agree with this 100%, and frankly, I'm glad to see it!
