Brass Cannon

1/9 IU vs Penn State University Game Thread

Recommended Posts

The way those refs kept going over to the scorer's table, I thought we were going to see a finish like the '72 Olympics, jeesh.

I thought the effort was pretty good and  it had to be with so many missed shots and brain farts (mostly from our seniors).  I love the hustle from McRoberts, but he's got to be able to add something to the scoring column - it's not like we're loaded with scorers.  FT shooting was pretty good, especially down the stretch.

What is iu record for most consecutive games with a 10 second violation. That is something this group could still accomplish

There were 3 times (the 3-second violation and twice on giving up open 3's in the last minute) where Archie looked at his players like: "are you guys THAT dumb?".

I get nervous every time the ball is in his hands.

New to the party haven't watch the game yet just reading comments. Your comment explains our season so far. Our point guard makes everybody nervous with the ball in his hands. Just let that sink in, it explains why we don't know which team is coming to play.

Shame Justin got in foul trouble, would have liked him to string a couple good games!

His defensive reactions haven't quite caught up with the speed of the game yet. He is looking much better on offense and hopefully the defense will get there real soon.

Good win. Great effort by JUMO. 39 minutes? 39? Strong. Nice to see us finish that at the free throw line. Won it for us actually. I disagree about our guard play in this. We had 5 guys, including Green and Newkirk that scored in double figures. We needed that. Having three people score is simply not sustainable. Some herky-jerky play from just about everyone, but PSU is an above average defensive team. I thought we handled it well. This shouldn’t have been as close as it was.

And that first foul could probably be blamed partly on RJ.  Never the less, he needs to learn to play without fouling - I did notice he has a tendency to bite on shot fakes.

So refreshing to see our best players play more than 32 minutes in close games

Since the Wisconsin game, these guys are really dominating the glass. Tonight our defensive rebounding percentage was 83%. That’s not just good, it’s outstanding. Held PSU to just 5 offensive rebounds, yielding just 4 second chance points. To me that tells the story about the roll effort, energy and toughness are going to play in the success of this team.
