I don't understand why people don't have Gregg Marshall rated higher. If you want to win big and win big right away - Marshall would be a great hire. His Wichita State teams have been ranked in the top 20 by KenPom six years in a row and are preseason top 5 for next year. He has managed to do this at Wichita State - one would think he would absolutely tear it up and IU. 
The only thing I can come up with is that people don't like his personality. I can understand that position, but I really don't care how nice of a guy our coach is if we are hanging banners. Also, the administration may not see it this way, but I see his smoking hot, jersey wearing wife as a "double check plus (in the words of Fred Glass)". 

I question his ability to recruit big 10 basketball players.

I just had contact with my most reliable source today out of the blue.
My mother texted me "I just heard that John Groce is going to IU"
Perspective here:  She told me that Illinois would hire him about 6 hours before anybody else reported it.  I didn't care enough about him or Illinois to share it.  She knew because she works with his sister.  She still does.
Holy crap.  Hopefully she will become only 50% reliable, because so far she's 100%.  Maybe she means as an assistant to Billy D?  Give this theory a bit to debunk itself...because right now I believe we're getting Groce...

I don't understand this argument either. What suggests he can not recruit versus some of the other candidates that are not in big conferences? He's had as much success or more than all other of those mentioned not named Stevens or Donovan. Do you think Bob Knight or Coach K we're bringing in top 20 recruiting classes at Army?

Didnt even think of that!! He mentioned several interesting colors are that in a comment. So Mike White, Billy D or Tony Bennett is our guy then I will sit back and relax knowing we are in good hands.

Just a FYI Marial Shayok and Jared Reuter both are transferring and may be elgible to be a grad guy. I know Shayok is saw Reuter would need to take a class. Those could be strong indicators that TB may be leaving. JS.

Operating on the basis of Billy Donovan being a pipe dream, PTI just means the rumors are beyond message boards IMO not that there is a legit chance, I'd be thrilled with either of:

Bennett

Marshall - I don't give a crap if he has a temper, and he's a definite upgrade from Crean

I'd be disappointed because I'd prefer to see more but willing to give them chance:

Holtmann

Miller

White

I want no part of Alford or Mack or Collins or Cronin or Altman.
