So why bring in another guy with the same problems Im playing devils advocate with you guys. Marshall is my guy. Outside of Stevens/Donovan he is the surest bet and he is just on a different level than any other candidate. Back to Alford. Lets look at the past 4 seasons (only ones at UCLA). Made the dance 3/4 years. Made 2 sweet 16s and likely a 3rd in 4 years, slight projection. Has a stellar recruiting class coming in the fall. Has won a conference tournament. Which I fall in line with the ACC thinking, conference tournament champ is the real champ bc of unbalanced schedules. To me thats more than slightly better than Creans missing the dance twice in 4 years, 1st weekend exit, 1 sweet 16, 1 regular season title with unbalanced schedule. navyhoosier07, WayneFleekHoosier, Milldawg12 and 2 others 5 Quote

jdailey1981 Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 I've constantly stated I think he's gonna be the next coach. It's the type of hire IU needsI agree 100%. He is exactly what IU needs. Quote
woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 As posted, Crean took part in the B1G presser. I believe he flaked on Fisch again(big shocker).ThanksSent from my SM-T377V using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersThe 'but' could be read in more in more than one way:As in: "y'all didn't believe me but here he comes." Popular Post Dalton26 Posted March 11, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 11, 2017 I lost support for Crean after we lost Fischer, and Calbert saw the writing on the wall and left also. The next coach should do what he can to get him back. That would help in state recruiting a lot.The creator of the Fire Tom Crean thread is back. For those of you that are new this is the guy that started this epic thread over 3 years ago. Hoosierfan2017, Travis Scott, IU Hoosier41 and 12 others 15 Quote

Hovadipo Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 For me? Alford: no Fife: potentially yes.But Fife and Alford DID play at IU, and that is absolutely relevant.Should've specified. Try to take that connection out of it. Purely on coaching ability. I get that it matters, but if Steve Alford's name was Elementary School Bill and he played at Ivy Tech Community College, but had the exact same resumé/skills, would that be good enough for IU? Sure his Indiana connection would help him recruit the state, but it wouldn't matter if he never did anything with the talent. (I'm actually opening up to the Alford idea a little bit, but hesitantly. They got smacked last night.) IUsafety, WayneFleekHoosier and Milldawg12 3 Quote
woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I honestly rather keep Crean then hire Alford and that's saying A LOT. Only plus is getting Indiana recruits Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appI'm with youSent from my SM-T377V using Tapatalk Quote
Stuhoo Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Why? Why is it relevant that Stevie is an all time IU great?Because the opinions of the big money boosters and the instate fan base matters, and Alford may have many of their voices in his favor. Feathery and Hoosierfan2017 2 Quote

woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Alford might please the older fans but anybody 35 years old or younger just knows him as a terrible coach I'm 52. I'm against the hireSent from my SM-T377V using Tapatalk IU Hoosier41 1 Quote

ALASKA HOOSIER Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Simmer down my fellow Hoosiers! We are all working ourselves into a frenzy... sounding like a bunch of purdue people after the Hoosiers beat them. Forget about a new coach and get back to what is most important. Coach Crean needs to go away. Once that is done, we can look at coaches. Stay on topicSent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app Feathery, CR3AMnCR1MS0N, Hoosierfan2017 and 3 others 6 Quote
