bigrod Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I'm wondering.... TB, JBJ, ROJO, Juwan, Deron, CUJO....weren't these guys all top 50-75 ranked kids? Absolutely no reason we should be falling off a cliff like this. This team still has talent, unlike most of the talking heads want us to believe. The fact that we are still making the same mistakes we did at the beginning of the season, along with the fact that our biggest deficiency is point guard play, and that we have no point guard help coming next year either, all lie with the head coach.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Trish, pumpfake and Napleshoosier 3 Quote
Popular Post madtownhoosier Posted February 16, 2017 Popular Post Posted February 16, 2017 Typical Tom Crean style, we are up five with a few minutes to go. Ball goes to Thomas Bryant on the left wing and he jacks up a 3 with plenty of time on the shot clock. Clang! Minnny grabs the rebound and goes down and scores. A four point swing. Such stupid basketball, but we have been watching it for 9 years now. Hurryin'Hoosier317, GloryDays, Btownclouds and 5 others 8 Quote

No way he survives this season if we continue to lose. NO WAY! Eastern Ohio College wasn't enough of a cupcake. It was Eastern Western A&M Tech of the Blind and Deaf. Trish 1 Quote

He was the guy to watch bc he has pro POTENTIAL, but thats what it is POTENTIAL. During the game they showed some majorly skewed stats with and without OG. Yeah we scored more and they scored less with OG, did they not see the non conference slate of oppoenent where the stats get padded? Hartman injury is a nonissue. If yoi can beat UNC and Kansas without him, then its a non issue against anyone. This team sucks bc of the coaching (system he runs). He wasn't starting because he was already hurt with a sprained ankle... Quote

I find it hilarious and the fact Crean really said his number one job is to be their cheerleader makes me wonder how he has made it through any professional type meetings with his bosses. pumpfake Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I think right now Donovan would be the #1 Grand Slam choice (however realistic). Beyond that, we've screwed up 3 times post-RMK and it's crucial that we get it right. Because of that, IMO we MUST get a guy that has proven he can win at a high level (the higher the better). It sends chills down my spine when I see names like Buzz Williams or Dane Fife bandied about. Williams hasn't done jack crap and Dane Fife hasn't proven anything yet (not to mention he was instrumental in saddling us with Mike Davis). Nope, there's a handful of coaches that are all but guaranteed to be vast upgrades over CTC and there's no reason to reach or settle. We're at a perfect time for finally getting our next great coach - the program is clean, the aura of the Bob Knight era has faded, top notch facilities and fan support. One other possible (?) factor is any new coach may not feel guilty for taking the job of a coach already under contract if stories of CTC not being well liked among his peers is true. If not now, then when? Happydaze, LockdownD, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

It means your a top 16 school. So you argue Crean isn't top 75 then say he will be in the sweet sixteen elsewhere. Top 40 coach as I said. Is someone who makes the tourney 6-7 years out of 10 and makes a run of a game or two every now and then. Not like I said he was awesome and the best coach ever lol. The problem is IU is above that so yes I still want Crean gone like most but let's not act like he is gonna be coaching jv in high school. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app I do believe expectations at IU are high compared to most other schools, and they should be. As Crean said when he was hired "THIS IS INDIANA!" (and all the rest) so when a coach signs his name on the contract to coach at IT, he (or she?) should know the passionate fan base will have very high expectations and expect to win consistently and advance deeply in the tournament every year. Are they unrealistic expectations? Depends on who you talk to but I am not a believer of dropping standard of the program just because of parity in college basketball. I don't remember arguing that Crean was any ranking so not sure where that came from. Must be mistaking me for another poster. thebigweave 1 Quote
