It's already committed - Davis, Jones, Green (and don't forget about Gelon and the inevitable to be announced CTC wildcard). On paper, it's a reasonably good class. Glass is loyal to a fault and he will not pull the trigger this year UNLESS there are new off-court incidents OR we lose out the season OR he is positive he has the man he wants as the CTC replacement "in the bag". hoosierpap 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 1) What finish do you actually project? Regular season 23-8 (13-5), one win in the BTT 2) What finish do YOU need to give Crean another year, with some degree of reality if possible? No record would exist for ME to bring him back 3) What finish do you think Glass will bring Crean back at? 20-11 (10-8) NCAA finish: 1) Rd 32 exit 2) None, Final Four would get me thinking though 3) Making the NCAAT And what realistic recruiting class gives him another year and changes (2)? Recruiting class: Markus Howard, Devonte Green, Curtis Jones, De'Ron Davis I believe if the right players return we could have the mix of guards, wings, and bigs, as well as a solid mix of upperclassmen and newcomers to compete for the B1G title and a Final Four. I don't believe we would have the coach capable of getting them there. As you can see, I'm ready for the next chapter of IU basketball. I would go all in for Coach Brad Stevens. If he turned down the offer I would go to the next tier of coaches. I believe Crean has started or will soon start doing more damage than good. There will be speculation around the program until Crean puts together multiple good/above expectations years or a coaching change is made. hoosierpap 1 Quote

Walking Boot of Doom Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 So... This team is looking much more like the team we hoped we'd see. Looking forward to seeing us play some tougher competition, but Crean has effectively silenced the hot seat discussion for this season, IMO. Granted, that can change if this team were to revert back to Maui form, but if the performances against OSU, Wisconsin, and Illinois are indicative of what this team has developed into, Crean is back next year. Trish Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We have the easiest schedule in the B1G. If we continue to play at this level against actual B1G teams, then i'll be impressed. We tend to play good in January then let up right in time for the B1G tourney and of course the dance. HoosierTrav 1 Quote

I understand the schedule is easy, but at some point we've got to just look at how the team is playing. They're playing like a team, and they've been correcting their weaknesses; both turnovers and defense are much improved. It's getting interesting is all I'm saying. Popular Post Old Friend Posted January 20, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 20, 2016 Playing much better of late, but it's a fair point to say Indiana has not seen a good team in quite a while; and we keep getting lucky seeing teams with injury problems or teams that are completely disjointed. Minnesota is bad, and they played us close. Illinois is up and down, had injury and foul problems; and we just blitzed them. Ohio State had everything go wrong....etc. That said, Indiana is playing well. There's no hiding that. They've made some adjustments, they're being more patient... The problems are not "gone," but they're not as destructive. Tonight, Indiana had 27 assists and 11 turnovers. Granted, Illinois' defense was awful; but if we could do that against good teams...even half the time, we'd win the national championship. The issue with Indiana has been consistency. Can we do it against good teams. Can we do it every night. It's easy to look good against mediocre teams when you shoot well. If Indiana can bring that effort and that execution against the conference's top teams? We'll win the Big Ten, and make it look easy. 10 in a row is terrific. We're at Wisconsin next week and at Michigan the following. I'm holding out a complete buy in until those games have taken place, but the kids played really well tonight. Yogi'sBicep Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Great team play and great coaching. Effort coming from both definitely! Now, if we have an off night or off Game I'm sure everybody will have a change of heart. But, for this year I'll give them the benefit of doubt. CTC is doing Indiana things right now & you can't even disagree. Try to. lilly and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

I love the way the team is playing but our coach's history shows that you have to wait and see after the regular season is over before you can say things like this. I hope he proves me wrong but I'm not buying it until I see us play like this against the top of our conference. Napleshoosier, KingPG21, ALASKA HOOSIER and 5 others 8 Quote
JSHoosier Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Frankly, I would still fire him. I don't see how anyone can say this stretch has taken him off the hot seat. We've had an easy schedule in this stretch. Sure the team looks better, I won't deny that, great at times, but much of the time we haven't looked particularly good even against bad teams. We looked less than impressive for most of the ND game and against Rutgers and Nebraska and Minnesota and Wisconsin. So how much of it is our improvement and how much is weak competition, at this point it's probably a combination of both and we won't really know how much we've improved until we play a team that's worth a crap. Yes, the defense looks better and the effort is definitely up (impossibly low standard since they didn't even try to play defense before) and turnovers are down but beating bad teams has never been a problem. We're also not to the point of the season where Crean's teams always start to fade. Defenserocks28, HoosierTrav, FortWayneHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

This team sure looks like they are bringing it together, and I cant be upset with you for wanting to find silver linings but we have to watch them do this, CONSISTENTLY, against good teams. We have been prisoners of the moment so many times in the Crean era. How many times have we looked like world beaters, only to fall apart at the most crucial times, under Crean. So many times that I'm not going to be fooled by this run against terrible competition, early in the year. Every ounce of pessimism has been earned. There's no need to call people out for them being wary of making the same mistakes in judgement again. Feathery, Walking Boot of Doom and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

We looked awful against some very bad teams. Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska. That awful play was masked by the fact that we just won the games. That play would have guaranteed losses against the likes of B1G contenders. Another thing that we have to look at, is the fact that we haven't played like this consistently. Wisconsin-O$U-Minn-Illinois.......In terms of how we looked, that was an absolute roller coaster. The ease of schedule just makes our margin for error huge. I will say that Yogi seems to be on another level. He looks absolutely locked in. Not just in his play, but in his leadership of the team. He is a markedly different player right now. 8bucks and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

It's the late season collapse IMO. This team just feels different. The argument for this team has continually shifted since the Notre Dame game. First it was we will start 2-7. Then 5-2. Then we aren't playing anyone. Let's both hope they keep doing what they are doing. seanmm1971, Walking Boot of Doom, HoosierAloha and 3 others 6 Quote
