TOM CREAN FIRED

Of course Crean hasn't which is why he needs to go. So why bring in another guy with the same problems

Im playing devils advocate with you guys. Marshall is my guy. Outside of Stevens/Donovan he is the surest bet and he is just on a different level than any other candidate.

Back to Alford. Lets look at the past 4 seasons (only ones at UCLA). Made the dance 3/4 years. Made 2 sweet 16s and likely a 3rd in 4 years, slight projection. Has a stellar recruiting class coming in the fall. Has won a conference tournament. Which I fall in line with the ACC thinking, conference tournament champ is the real champ bc of unbalanced schedules. To me thats more than slightly better than Creans missing the dance twice in 4 years, 1st weekend exit, 1 sweet 16, 1 regular season title with unbalanced schedule.

For me?
Alford: no
Fife: potentially yes.
But Fife and Alford DID play at IU, and that is absolutely relevant.

Should've specified. Try to take that connection out of it. Purely on coaching ability. I get that it matters, but if Steve Alford's name was Elementary School Bill and he played at Ivy Tech Community College, but had the exact same resumé/skills, would that be good enough for IU? Sure his Indiana connection would help him recruit the state, but it wouldn't matter if he never did anything with the talent.

(I'm actually opening up to the Alford idea a little bit, but hesitantly. They got smacked last night.)
