HoosierTrav Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Question -- If Crean manages to turn this around, we finish a game or two shy of the Big Ten regular season title, but we do well in the Big Ten Tournament, not necessarily win it, but we do well. And then in NCAA we make the Sweet 16 but lose a close one to an extremely hot team who would beat anyone on that night. Would you guys want Crean gone?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersYes. At this point, we know know exactly what we are getting. Many excuses were made for the man early and throughout. Now there is nearly a decade of consistent data that can reliably help us forecast what our ceiling will be. What he is, isn't good enough for this job. If the university makes it ok, then I no longer support the team with my dollars or viewership. recker222000 1 Quote
Bobman1 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Alright, I'm honestly with you I think it'd be better for both parties if Crean wasn't the coach at IU next season. I was just asking a thought provoking question on a scenario which wouldn't shock me and something we've seen in recent years, and i was wondering your guys take on the matter. Sounds like at the moment, it's a pretty clear and consensus no to Crean. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Honestly I would be really impressed if he managed to do well in the Big Ten Tournament. I think I would still want him gone, but if your scenario played out I could possibly see myself cooling off on wanting Crean gone like I did after last season. Bobman1 1 Quote

Trish Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I'll ask this question again, as I liked the dialogue it created last time I did. When is the last time anyone said Indiana had the best coach in the building when we played a good team? Tom Crean has a system. He spreads the floor, recruits kids who he thinks can succeed in a catch and shoot offense, and runs a decent secondary break. When teams take that away, as Wisconsin consistently does, Indiana loses. I haven't looked everything up, but I know for sure that in the Butler, Louisville, and Wisconsin loses (and I think Nebraska, too), we've had more turnovers than assists and more turnovers that our opponent. Why? Because we have nothing to fall back on, Tom Crean is being paid millions of dollars to recruit mediocre recruiting classes, have teams devoid of basketball players who understand the game, a team now devoid of leadership, and an offense so elementary, a 6-6 team can come into our building and beat us. His team can't guard. His team doesn't play fundamentally sound and makes consistently poor decisions with the ball. We put-rebounded Wisconsin tonight by 7, and we made 4 more FT's. As usual, turnovers and horrible shot quality got the best of us, and we got beat. The pattern is very obvious, and the flaws were there when Verdell Jones was here. Cody Zeller, Victor Oladipo, and Yogi Ferrell (and frankly, Dwayne Wade) can mask a lot of deficiencies, and I'm sorry....but Tom Crean is not a solid basketball coach. He might not be even top 5 in this state. Exactly. Honestly, id imagine some of the cup cakes we've played this year are better coaches than Crean, they just can't recruit because it's not "Indiana".CTC will never be that guy. We have 8 years worth of evidence that he will never be that guy to consistently win at a high national level. We all agree the team will get their two big wins. Then we will lose to a D13 school in terms of talent. We can't rely on any in game adjustments , we've learned that by now. How about an out of bounds play to score? LOL! Keep Dreaming! Sweet 16 Crean is simply to predictable. I'm sick of him and I'm ready to move one Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app AZ Hoosier, Old Friend and Napleshoosier 3 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I really can not see the harm in giving Holtmann 3 years. Even if he's not the guy I would think we could get him in a heartbeat and he's clearly a better coach than Crean johnsoniu, Hoosierfan2017, Alford Bailey and 1 other 4 Quote

Yes, when I use to watch his infamous post game pressers he would usually get upset normally after another loss when asked specifically about game flow or something not on his stat sheet recap. His standard reply was I will have to watch the tape. He did pull some kids out of a snow bank and once fed a homeless man a cheeseburger though. Hoosier_roots and MikeRoberts 2 Quote

The only scenario i could foresee is he pushes for an extension now and glass says no. Then crean bolts cause he knows if next year aint good he is out of time not because of glass but the donors finally have had enough.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk 8bucks 1 Quote

bleedhoosier Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Going to take empty seats and or booing before they read a single email Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appAbsolutely. If yall feel strongly about a coaching change, this is it. Empty the stands. It's hard, it's a moral decision about also feeling like you are abandoning players which don't deserve it. But the band aid has to be torn off at some point. I've not attended a game since one of the first cupcakes, last year. No more money shelled out for this coach. I seriously hate having to do this. My wife even called to tell me she had Nebraska tickets in the cart. I told her to cancel and remember that we are boycotting Tom Crean. It's the only way I feel I can be effective, as a fan. ..and maybe a better plan is to let coach have it, but still be at the game. I don't think it would be effective though. It's worth mentioning that he is a fantastic man and I hope he comes back to play IU and we give him a standing ovation for the rebuild! Seriosuly, that should happen.Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app Bobman1, Napleshoosier and 8bucks 3 Quote
