jrbchi Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I think the Fire Crean should be replace the AD. Sure he's a nice guy but fired Wilson due to complaints by players who never saw the field and supports Crean who hasn't reached success that the talent should. Last year is looking like the exception and a gift of a favorable schedule. Disappointing and hope this team turns it around. Quote

More chucking 3's to come for our hoosiers!I believe the quote was cut short. It should read as follows, “The biggest thing to me, I don’t see us shooting that way very often against 200+ RPI teams."The thing with IU teams under Crean is if you get up into them, maybe a little rough (Wiscy and Butler), they'll fold. I called it before the UNC game that Roy would run with us. KU ran with us. In those games we hit outside shots because they didn't get up in us. IPFW, Butler, and Neb have far inferior talent but had excellent game plans to force us from doing what we do best. Crean reads from script. He does things one way and either doesn't know how or want to adjust. It's ridiculous for a coach this far along in his tenure to or see that. Trish, BGleas, Bowhunter and 7 others 10 Quote

There have been a number of comments on how we missed a lot of open shots, well thing is against a team like Louisville chances are you get sped up from what you expect. Those open shots against Louisville, or Butler are different than open shots against a bunch of horrible teams. Them causing all those turnovers, and blocked shots gets in your head. When we do, it is our kryptonite. Those teams that play that kind of D don't always win the NCAA championship so others find a way past them. Kind of like the Patriot D in the early Manning/Colts years. We beat everyone but we're too finesse oriented and could not win against that style Manning eventually figured it out enough to start having some success against them. Can Crean? Quote

BGleas Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I'm so tired of rooting for a program that literally puts zero emphasis on defense and taking care of the ball. We didn't lose because of Louisville's defense, IU lost because they made unforced turnover after unforced turnover, missed wide open shots, and once again (probably the 4th-5th time this year) let a below average offense destroy them. Our ball screen/hedging defense is embarrassingly bad, we let people get to the rim at will , and consistently let bad 3-pt shooting teams go off because we play with our hands down. This is is pretty basic stuff that keeps happening year after year. IU seems so focused on player development and turning people into positionless players for the NBA that we no longer focus on what actually wins basketball games. I recently heard a college football coach asked about college offenses (mainly the spread/read option) not preparing QB's for the NFL and he replied "my job isn't to prepare QB's for the NFL, it's to win games". I feel like Crean needs a reminder on that. ALASKA HOOSIER, 8bucks, HoosierAloha and 4 others 7 Quote

Can Crean? How many times do we need to see it to believe he can do it? He beat Wiscy last season at home but that's like one for fifty? I know they've been posted somewhere but Crean has been terrible against fundamental teams like Wiscy, Butler, and not where he should be against teams like NW/PSU and even Neb. There's a way to beat Crean teams and it doesn't take the most talent in the world. Some coaches won't switch to that style but if they do you'd probably have a better than 50% of beating him. Quote

To be fair, zones used to really trip him up but we have gotten better against them. However, I am not overly optimistic he can figure this out. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

If you want to develop and play in a system without repercussions for bad play we are now the place for that. 4 TOs in a half - clap and play fasterMiss defensive assignments/switches- get me next timeTake a quick shot on offense- no worriesSit on the bench without your jersey on- aww, it's okay just get in the game when you get your jersey. Surprisingly they beat wisky the year they went 17-15 as well so 2 for 50. Stan actually had a good game against wisky that year. I hear what u r saying. I think we are in the same boat I have no other choice but to watch the Hoosiers it's in my DNA. I have always said for me, watching a poorly coached Indiana team is better then watching no Indiana basketball. I have never been a fan of the offensive system that doesn't give a crap about turning it over but i have had to accept it and hope for the best until it changes. Luckily I'm a huge college basketball fanatic and when the Hoosiers struggle that doesn't effect my passion for the sport I love. When I need my defensive fix I just go watch Virginia. Basketball is a crazy sport where anything can and does happen. Out of all his teams this could be the team that struggles during the season and figures something out ( or gets lucky) and gets hot at the right time.
