HoosierTrav Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 If we lose only Troy, Yogi and JBJ and everyone else stays and our recruits stay committed, we will be exponentially better (simply because Yogi and JBJ will be gone) regardless of coach. Addition by subtraction. Yogi, is the most consistent player we've had, so I cant imagine this being addition by subtraction in his case. His leadership is in question but the ultimate leader of the program has major questions about his leadership as well. If you ask me, it's just a trickle down effect. I, personally, will miss Yogi when he is gone. I hate it but I agree with you on Troy and JB. Watching them play is like riding a roller coaster. Yes they provide us with spectacular play at times but the consistently inconsistent play has kept us out of the W column on many occasions. I cant wait to watch Rob Johnson take on an expanded role next year. He's ready and capable of leading the team IMO. More importantly, I'm ready to see what change on the sideline can do for us. HoosierTrav Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Except Crean has shown he can't win without having truly exceptional talent on the roster. The 2012-2013 team was loaded. Vic was an absolute stud that year, Cody was Cody. Then add in our senior leaders who were good players, and a top rated freshman guard. Next year's team as of right now doesn't have that level of talent Good point. Many of us (myself included) seem dig for reasons as to why we will somehow be contenders the following season. Fools gold. At this point we have a significant amount of anecdotal evidence to help us form realistic expectations. Quote
yogisballin Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Chris Mack has Xavier ranked #6, highest ranking in school history. Not saying he's the guy, though I would personally have him ranked pretty high, just adding fuel to the fire and seeing what peoples that may know more than me opinions are on him. I'd be all in for this guy. He's not my number 1 but he would be my 3 behind BS and Billy D. Archie probably my 4 MikeRoberts 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 The only way we would see a 3-5 year rebuild is if we decide to dismantle the program again or if we let Crean do it himself. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
Rookie33 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I'm not sure I agree with that at all. I think we're better without JBJ, but Troy really does a lot for our offense. He's one of the few that actually gets to the rim and cuts. His turnovers hurt, but I'd imagine we lose a dimension on offense without him. Until someone else proves they can be a competent facilitator like Yogi, who is nearing the career assist record at Indiana even with the TERRIBLE Vonleh squad, I'm not sure who we run the offense through. I'm frustrated with Troy and Yogi as well, but you can't deny their importance to this team. I will reject arguments for the importance of JBJ till I'm blue in the face though. To clarify, I would love to have Troy back. He's gone though. Can't say the same about the other two. JBJ and Yogi are all about themselves and not the team. We will be better when ROJO is the leader at the 1. Dalton26 1 Quote

Without a doubt he Is one of the best guards in the country, how does losing that help you? Quote

JBJ and Yogi are all about themselves and not the team. We will be better when ROJO is the leader at the 1. He will end up as one of the greatest contributors (based purely on assists) of anybody who has ever played at Indiana. I don't think he's a selfish player at all. Sometimes he doesn't make the best decisions when driving, or off the court. Would never call him selfish though. Josh and BTOWN 2 Quote

JSHoosier Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Yogi isn't selfish all the time, but he absolutely has his streaks. He has streaks where he is going to 'get his' come hell or high water. AZ Hoosier, hoosierpap and GloryDays 3 Quote

There have been games where he definitely will go into hero mode. He will try to carry the team to a win, instead of just playing within a team concept. I don't know if that is him or if it's Crean telling him to take over. VO5 1 Quote
