I won't quit pointing out that Nate Tice, who knows more ball than 99.99999% of the population, had Fernando as his QB1 as far back as May. Enjoy him while he's here folks.

Obviously it shouldn’t matter much since scouting is 100% about projectablity, but how much of this is tied to Cig’s staff’s success with QB’s? Would Mendoza be on all of these early lists had he stayed at Cal?

Yeah, seems most of the previews I've seen have IU around 8-4. But some just can't help themselves, like this schmuck from a USC site: Big Ten picks,  has IU at 6-6. A 10-2 season this year would be more impressive than last year, imo.

"Exposed in the playoff" OK kind of like Oregon? We get dinged for the playoff performance but no credit for the wins. We beat a team you have going 9-3 by 50 points (Nebraska).

Really tired of the “exposed in the playoff” chatter about IU. Based on our OSU/ND performances were we truly a threat to win it all? No, we were not, but you could say that same thing about 8 or 9 of the teams in the playoff. We 100% earned the right to be in the playoff.

Tennessee got curb stomped 42-17 vs OSU, and was NEVER in the game, but how many “Tennessee was exposed in the playoff” comments are in the webverse? Virtually zero. Let’s prove it on the field again this year!!!

Oregon also got embarrassed by OSU in the playoffs (worse than us) and nothing about them either

Based off Nebraska's showing last night against a very pedestrian Cincinnati team, I don't think '9-3' is realistic for them. Btw, Sorsby leaving was a good thing, he runs well, but can't throw....at all.

It's a pathetic scheme. He's better than Tayven, by example.

We would run rule both Cinci and Nebraska, though.

Stealing this from an x post

Who do you think is the biggest breakout candidate on the Hoosier defense this year?
Ex: Rolijah Hardy last year.

Stephen Daley will be in discussion for all conference and we won't stop talking about all the good things Louis Moore will do on the field by the end of the season.

With all the turnover in the coaching carousel and IU being in a stable and high performing position, hopefully we can land a monster portal haul. Excited to follow football recruiting after our second consecutive CFP appearance.

Pretty nuts when the first major "name" to allegedly go portaling (Leavitt) immediately is getting penciled in as IU's next starter by non-IU people online. Right, wrong, indifferent it's just a wild perception shift.

He seems to be a good fit for our system.  Him as the starter and Alberto as our backup.  Not a bad spot.

I would predict if we brought in another sure starter at QB that Alberto will look elsewhere

In today's environment you have to look at every player as a 1-year rental.  Bring in a Leavitt and Alberto could decide to shop around.  Just the way it is today.

That’s fair.  I like Alberto my big thing is we have had success with experienced QBs do we change up the formula?  If so we basically won’t be able to recruit freshmen QBs.

Do we change up the formula though.  Years in the system could be worth something.

Sure is.

I don’t want Medoza to ever leave. lol.  He’s one of my all tie favorites. Just and awesome human being.  Smart, tough, the most ideal teammate.

He will be greatly missed.

Coach Cig knows ball, but he has a tough decision to make next year on if Alberto can be the guy.  I think the formula of finding the 6’5” guy  that has the skill set and mentality out of the portal is hard to ignore especially as our ability to hand pick the guy increases.
