HoosierAloha Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 It's so frustrating to not only play down to the level of competition, but also not be able to exploit a size advantage down low.This. It seemed like the team felt they could just turn it on whenever they wanted against both Fort Wayne and Butler. When they started hitting shots and defending they came back but didn't have enough to finish. The physical abilities on this team are great but will need to have a step up in the mental portion in order to win games on the road in the B1G. Napleshoosier 1 Quote
mdn82 Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 After watching it back I truly feel the 10-0 run to end the half was on Crean and cost us the game. I know most will say, duh of course. But overall shots weren't dropping. Instead of going to the rim where calls were made and we were in the bonus we ran our offense through the perimeter at the end of the half. Say we go inside the rest of the half. Even if we force it and turn it over a couple of times we would still get to the line enough to win that game. Just seemed when Bryant went out with 2 fouls with like 4 to go we abandoned going inside. Why not post up RoJo on Lewis? Or Juwan on Chtrexhjgfcvwicz? We are just too easy to guard when we aren't getting turnovers. Butler doesn't turn it over. This not good and won't do a lot to help win games. Crean needed to save that timeout in the first half so he could use it with 1.5 seconds left down 5. Just think about it, like really think about it, it makes perfect sense. mdn82, ALASKA HOOSIER and Napleshoosier 3 Quote

We lack a guy though who can drive and finish or get the call. Quote

Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Its been how many years now and none of Crean's teams ever are able to consistently beat teams that run systems like Butler? I don't hate the team, but it is still the same things year in and year out with Crean. The issues of the roster are still pretty much what everyone thought. Our go to guy in the clutch, JBJ, can't draw fouls consistently, Yogi was a huge loss and Newkirk hasn't been that good in filling in that role. Bryant has honestly been a bit underwhelming so far this year. He has been considerably better on the boards, but he isn't really dominating a lot of games like he should be able to. His drop in shooting from the field to start the year is kind of concerning, Defenserocks28 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
cappymo14 Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Well, stop worrying yourself, you've pretty much convinced yourself they are losses anyway, don't need to add that stress to your life.I have a feeling I'm not the only one who thinks that this three game stretch could be trouble. Teams that have a style that the Hoosiers struggle against?!seems a recurring theme today. Butler Louisville Wisconsin???Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 It worries me during the regular season, but not come tourney time. Most of all the teams in the final four usually play similar styles to us. It worries me we could lose more games than we should, which results in a lower seed and then tougher matchups in week one & two, but I believe we will be fine. Butler always seems to either almost beat us or beat us. The missed possession call by the refs and the free throws as well as Bryant falling asleep are what did us in. Fundamentals continue to be an issue with Crean coached teams. I still have complete faith in this team and our coach. Hopefully we learn from this game.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

yogisballin Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 That's it. Leave the basket wide open. Just when you think this team is ready for the next step..Serious question here, what had you saw from this team to make you think we were ready to take the next step? I'd like to know. Bc we beat UNC? I didn't like how we closed that game out, at all! I really hate that I haven't tuned in to an IU game since UNC. I am so beyond finished with CTC. DONE!! So sick of watching him get out coached . Yeah I said it, delete me if you wish! Yeah, does the guy have his strengths? Absolutely! But when your biggest is in game adjustments, determining which skill set each individual NEEDS to improve on. If I were a big fella in HS, there is no way in hell I would go play for CTC, NO WAY!!! Now, maybe if I were a wing. That's different, one of his few strengths.Come on Fred, that seat better be steaming hotSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Napleshoosier 1 Quote
AKHoosier Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 This may be an unfair criticism, but does anyone else remember early in the fall when the B1G Network televised an hour of our practice? I remember watching that and being excited, but couldn't help but think we were spending way too much time shooting 3's. We seriously spent like half of that hour doing drills where guys would do a weave then shoot a 3. Maybe I'm reading too much into that, but it seemed like we didn't spend too much time practicing our half-court offense, and it shows during our losses when the other team slows it down on us. MikeRoberts Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Glass has a tough job when it comes to Crean. Crean has done a lot of good but meanwhile has destroyed relationships in this state and always seems to fall a bit short when it counts. He wins enough to keep us relevant and keep IU fans hopeful but not sure we will ever see sustained, elite success from him and that is what many of us fans are looking for. This was just one game but it's kind of become expected by now. Should become a betting man and at least make some money on his predictability - bet on on IU at home no matter what, lose on the road to ranked teams and lose to slow paced, well coached, methodical teams. Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 IMO, Newkirk should be benched. RoJo is more under control with the ball. He isn't as quick, but I trust him a lot more with the ball than JN. Even Blackmon or Juwan would be better options at the moment. JN has shown he COULD be our guy, but 4 years in college(redshirt) year concerns me it just won't happen. As a bench guy he could be better suited. RoJo, JBJ, OG, Juwan & TB should be our starters. JN, DD, CuJo & McRoberts who should see only 7-10 minutes should be our rotation. Enough of keeping kids happy and play our best guys. I thought yesterday was on coaching not our effort. The turnovers and crucial misses at the line didn't help. I love Crean and he could very well make us a contender come March, but if we don't make a Sweet Sixteen I believe it is time for him to go. I don't think there is many BETTER options and he will surely find another job and good one at that, but change just seems needed for both parties to flourish. Hoosierfan2017 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I don't think Glass is all that concerned with winning another national championship and as a result will keep Crean here as long as he'll stay. It sucks, but it's probably the hand that we have been dealt. Alford Bailey 1 Quote
