  3. It was the best of halves, it was the worst of halves, it was the age of 3-point shooting, it was the age of foolish fouls, it was the epoch of turnovers, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was……….Indiana basketball.

  4. Couple of comments from today's Zoom presser. Curt Cignetti says emphasis for Indiana "was on the '27 team, retention and needs" before IU knew its Rose Bowl opponent. Hoosiers are in Alabama prep now, but he's got a firm idea of what the majority of his contributors' long-term intentions are. Curt Cignetti on handling 3 weeks off before playing Alabama: "Before we knew our opponent, we treated it like two bye weeks. And now we have almost two weeks to prepare for the opponent. "Would I like to play earlier? Yeah, I would, to be honest with you." Curt Cignetti on filling Stephen Daley's role at edge rusher: "We'll find the best solution that gives us the best chance to be successful." Curt Cignetti -- with a smirk -- on what IU will do to replace Stephen Daley's production on defense: "You'll see what we decide to do when we play the game, right?" Curt Cignetti on new deals for Bryant Haines, Mike Shanahan: "Bryant had some calls, had some people very interested in him... We also wanted to lock Mike up, who is very deserving. Very glad we did. As the season goes on, we'll work on locking up the rest of the staff."

  5. We are officially back and officially into 2025. MASSIVE site upgrades should mean insanely improved performance. That being said, I'll continue to make the site feel more normal and correct colors and what not, I figured getting the site live was priority #1. The rest you guys will be okay with hopefully!

  6. IU finished it non conference part of the schedule last night and will enter January 10-3(1-1). They missed out on 2 Q1a games away from home and a winnable Q2 road game. Moving forward they will have plenty of Q1 and Q2 opportunities at home and away. IUs predictive metrics are solid. Average around the 20s. Ius results based metrics are lower around the mid 50’s. Sos- 175 Non con-173 for an at-large team those are respectable numbers. If your non con sos is in the high 200’s or 300 then that could become a problem. IU didn’t do anything to hurt their resume however they didn’t do much to improve their resume either. They did get a win away from home which always helps( at large team usually needs 4 wins away from home to feel safe). They also didn’t earn any Q1 wins up until this point. Good news is that they play in the B1G and will have chances to get multiple Q1 wins. If you were expecting IU to compete with the upper level teams for a B1G title this year then in my opinion you are going to be disappointed. They don’t have the roster this year for that. In my opinion Sparty, Michigan, Purdue and Illinois are a step above the rest this year (Maybe Nebraska but I can’t go that far). IU has 6 games against the top 4 (2 home games). That leaves 12 games against the rest of the league which are more winnable games. Not saying they won’t win against those top 4 but those should be looked at as bonus games. Ius most important games will be against the other teams fighting for an at-large outside the top 4. IU gets Nebraska and Iowa at home and do not have away games against those 2. Those 2 games are probably the most important games on IUs schedule for now. Most on here and nationally said IU making the tourney would be a good start for Devries in his first year. That’s easily still on the table. Reminder even teams that are tourney locks (8-11 seed) always have flaws. 8 seeds are considered teams that are comfortably in the field and not on the bubble however if you look at some 8 seeds resume you are good to see a lot of red (losses). Are losses coming to IU? Yep but in my opinion some wins will be coming as well biggest surprise of the year so far for me IUs KenPom offensive efficiency-56 IUs KenPom defensive efficiency-16

  11. There is a current QB on the IU team that just won the Heisman Trophy who also "bailed" on his team. It's not 2004 anymore. Getting injured in a bowl game can literally cost some of these guys 3 million dollars. I dont really blame anybody in line for a huge payday for sitting out.

  13. I was thinking about this in another thread and don’t think I posted anything. But… Theres a good chance the 1/4 century of crap the basketball program produced didn’t sink the program because there was nothing to take its place. Now with IU football’s ridiculous success, I think basketball can almost be killed off for good absent some real success. The monied alumni seem to already have made that decision. The common fan will follow. There’s a time I wouldn’t have missed this game. I honestly almost forgot it was on. But I made time to watch our football opponent last night. Had Cig came ten years ago basketball would be an afterthought.

  15. Some of you wonderful people need to chill the hell out. Let’s review: Siena is pretty good. Siena was awful in the first half and we took advantage of it. Siena adjusted but we’re up 22. That is all.

  16. I can't believe how awful this team is. I need to burn all IU basketball apparel. Close the university. Fire everyone who works in the basketball program. I can't believe we recruited (insert whoever's name that doesn't play well) Bring back Everett Dean and Woodson. Just summarizing how I anticipate the forum looking during tonight's game

  17. Hamilton Southeastern had the #3 SOS in the state last year. 24 of their 28 opponents were 4A. Not sure if you're confusing her with someone else or just too busy grinding that axe to care.

  18. You guys with the apathy thing just crack me up. IU was the losingest team in college football. The worst. To say there was no excitement about IU football would be an understatement. 2 years later with real success there’s great excitement. There was excitement during the Crean years in bball when we were winning B1G championships and making SW 16 runs despite mediocre coaching. The attendance numbers for IU basketball even during the horrible Woodson years were top 10. Apathy? Here, sure, and students don’t care about the weak team we just played, but as IU ball gets its feet under itself going forward (it will, whether this season or next) the enthusiasm level will grow. You’d think you guys live in the age of immediate gratification and social media. Oh wait

  19. Only my opinion but I wouldn’t see a reason to panic until they start losing home games to teams they will be fighting for a tourney spot with. Before the season the national college basketball media and most on here felt making the tourney would be a good first year for DeVries. Listen to the national media yesterday nothing has changed most feel IU is flawed team but still will be in that second tier of B1G teams that will be fighting each other for a tourney spot. I didn’t watch the game but if I only went by what happen in this place I would have thought they lost the game. Watching the highlights on the different stations however they actually pointed out IU taking care of business and doing what was necessary getting through the last game before break. Unless you thought they were going to be the cream of the crop of the B1G in his first year then I guess you can panic because they won’t be close to the top teams in the league. They will have a tough time with the Purdues, Michigans and Michigan States of the world this year however that leaves 14 other teams they will competing with for a tourney spot and my opinion only they will have chances against all the remaining B1G teams. They are not going to win all those games however from watching those other teams play they are far from dominating teams where IU wouldn’t have a chance. They will either win enough to be a tourney team or they won’t

  24. It seems like Bryant was at IU 15 years ago but he is still only 28 years old. At the end of this year he will have earned $37,443,000 in the NBA. Not shabby for a 28 year old.

  25. Was up 26 at half and came out of the half like they were up 26 in the last game before break. They cut it to 15 at some point and then IU stretched it back out to over 20. Gave up 4 garbage points at the end and ended up winning by 21. 8 out of the 10 wins have been by 20 or more points. Lone one being Incarnate Word who IU won by 8. They have done everything you would want them to do to Q3 and Q4 teams and even beat a Q2 team by double digits. IU hasn’t taken advantage of their Q1a opportunities but both of them were away from home. Looking forward to see how the respond in those Q1 home game opportunities

  26. 2 home games with one being against a top 12 NET team and a winnable road game to start out. They will have every opportunity to start out good in the B1G

  31. Could it be because we just had 2 terrible coaches in a row spanning 8 years?? DeVries tenure has just begun. He’s an excellent basketball mind. Why is it we can’t wait longer than 1/3 into his first season before asking sweeping rhetorical questions?

  35. Reading between the lines per Cig's presser today, Haines was receiving some very serious HC interest which got the admin to expedite his extension. Not so much on Shanahan, but they wanted to make sure he got locked up also.

  36. Indiana doesn't start 3 freshmen on their offensive line like Oklahoma does. Alabama didn't tackle well and offensively they can't run it. Indiana will wear them down over 4 quarters. I even think we'll scheme and be okay defensively because (and I LOVE Stephen Daley) we're faster on defense now. Indiana's a better team than Alabama and wins a clean game.
