  1. Devin Williams (6'10", FAU) is a player that would really fit for IU. After he entered the portal he received interest from Kentucky, Arizona, and Syracuse -- but so far has not signed anywhere. 7.5 ppg and 5.2 rpg in 24 mpg; defensively he's a big rim protector -- averaged 2.6 blocks per game.

This one hits a little harder. Our family became close to AZ through my bil working for Chip for many years. Great driver(The Pass at Laguna comes to mind), even Greater human being. RIP

RIP to the Great Alex Zanardi. Maybe the most exciting dude who’s ever sat in an Indy car. And, man, the life he lived after the accident. What a bada$$.

  6. I’m in Fort Wayne for soccer with my daughter. You think she will mind if I bailed on her and go to the Run N Slam. Kidding of course. @WayneFleekHoosieris Tequila Mexican restaurant any good?

  7. While I mostly agree, the part that brings me a lot of optimism is that we won 18 games with a pretty terrible roster last year, upgrades across the board at each position besides Lamar. Make the tournament and win a game or two.

  8. Lindsay is pretty much a known quantity too. Sisley, Harris and Mustaf are the keys to the season surpassing expectations.

  9. Realistically don’t think we’re adding more than depth at this point. It’s a roster that should be able to contend in the top half of the B1G and make the tourney, we just missed the tourney this season with a decidedly weaker roster, my only real concern is depth to deal with injuries, fatigue, and secondary ball handling. We did get the number 3 ranked overall portal roster so can’t really fault how they spent portal money. imo this is the real build year where we do pretty well in conf and make the tourney, second round maybe one more, important point is this roster remains eligible so we can then add pieces next season after decent success and we continue to get better

  10. Kinda suspicious that everybody who “voted” for him is now dead. Just saying. On topic I’ve been training for an outlast race in Oct and IU football games are the perfect thing to watch while I am regretting that choice. Just watched us curb stomp Alabama and anybody who wants to say Black is slow needs to rewatch that game

  11. I can see a wide range of things. We are very thin and counting heavily on the freshmen to fill spots. Which Most schools don’t do these days unless they are 5 star freshman. We’ve got 5 “proven” players and 2 others with upside. Then 3 freshman where 2 of them don’t look physically ready. But the staff should know this, so we’ll see.

  13. As others have theorized, it’s likely a money thing. It’d be nice if we had an ace left up our sleeve, though. I think the Burton/Sherrell combo has enough potential synergy to be season defining on its own. But yea…odds are your assessment is correct.

  14. I haven’t pulled up much video but he’s supposedly a slasher who is pretty mediocre efficiency wise inside the arc (lots of long 2’s?) but shoots the 3 ball well but on less than 2 attempts per game. We’ll see what this new staff is made of with his and Harris’s scouts. Two gambles whom we apparently loved. Sherrel and Burton aren’t without their warts either but I think you probably get enough of both that even their potential downside is worth it. If Carrs scout is right on those 4 and CDD can coach em up, there’s a lot of potential there.

  16. I think if we had last years team with Sherrell, Yigitoglu and Burton minus Bailey, Acamovic and Conerway, we'd be pretty jacked about it. The only difference maker that somewhat fits in the portal is Momcilovic. My concern is that we flipped our previous weaknesses and strengths. I guess the difference is, this year we have guys that have shot well in the past but are unproven and you cant teach size. Did we push it too far one way? Remains to be seen. Odds are we're looking for emergency players, but it would be cool if we got Momcilovic.

  18. Ok so portal & recruit class so far 10 players, #3 rank portal class Guards PG Burton - 5’11, portal rank 24, 2 yrs elig CG Lindsay - portal rank 190, 6’3, 2 yrs elig CG Moody 6’4 4 star frosh Wings Mustaf - Guard/wing #88 portal rank, 6’5 2 yrs elig Harris G/wing 2 yrs elig #199 portal rank per 247 sports (4 star as HS recruit) Karvala - 6’7 4-star frosh Manhertz - 4 star frosh Forwards-Crnter Sherrell -#12 portal, 6’11 Forward-center 2 yrs Yigi - #37 portal, 7’2 center 2 yrs elig Sisley - 6’8 forward soph staff still portal searching at least for another forward. IMO need another PG. Bossi was really high on Harris as a 4 star HS recruit, for his shooting and inside game, he may be flying under the radar a bit here as buried on Duke’s deep bench. Should have pretty good outside shooting at this point, Lindsay 37% on 6 apg, Harris only at 30% but that’s on 1 apg in limited time at a Duke he’s a better shooter than that, Mustaff 37%, Burton 33%. would expect a nice frosh to soph jump from Sisley. Showed good promise in a number of games but hit the freshman wall. We are already bigger, more athletic and more skilled across the floor than last year except for Wilkerson (wish we had him this season). Need at least 2 if not the 3 adds for depth. Interested to see who it ends up being

  20. Heard some inside stuff here and it wasn’t especially favorable for IU. Not saying it won’t happen but IU’s approach of “we are IU and why wouldn’t you want to be a part of this” isn’t fully resonating.

  22. '28 Landon Lampley scored 18 in the win over Darius Garland. He typically would be playing 17U but the Meanstreets 17U team is not in Fort Wayne. Andershock said it wasn't fair to the other team that he was playing 16U. Reported at 6'7" with a 6'10" wingspan. Told Raby that IU has been heavily involved with him.

  23. My critique on Dorn. Not a good enough athlete to play both sides of the ball in the Big Ten. Not much of a first step. He was the epitome of a streak shooter. Half of the ACC schedule is pretty soft. He could have solid numbers. He is senior, maybe with the 5for5 rule he could become solid scorer.

  24. I’ve been wrong about Purdue before and CJ Cox is a really good basketball player, but what they will basically be doing next season is taking their second team from last season and promoting it to starter status.

  25. From the Hensley Run 'N Slam - Jahari Miller (Pike HS) hit six 3's for 22 points in Indy Heat's 17U win over Ohio Champion. Isaiah Hill (Pike HS) had 10. Noah Washington (New Albany HS) led Indy Heat 16U to a 63-59 win over Ohio Champion. He mostly slashed to bucket, which allowed him to get a bunch of free throws. He finished with 18. '28 Cole Kelly (Nequa HS, Nequa, IL) 22p, 6r, 5a in a win over Indiana Jammers.

  26. 5-8 combo guard from Jackson, Michigan. With the jumps Michigan and MSU have made in the past couple years, it seems as if it would be tough to beat them out -- but she's just a sophomore, so she's probably a ways from making a commitment.

  30. Women take the weekend opener 8-5 but it wasn't a piece of cake. Hooks started but never made it to the 2nd as Illinois scored 3 in its first at bat. We got 2 back in our 1st and then added 5 in our second with 4 coming on a Parker grand slam. Illinois picked up 2 more in its 5th and we added a run in the 7th. Troutt relieved Hooks and pitched the middle 5 innings before Hess closed out the 7th. We had a total of 7 hits and Parker had 4 RBI and Bird 3.

  31. I think Dorn will be solid. I think Dorn vs Harris will be an interesting comparison this season. They’ve got a nice roster in Miami. Will be interesting if Lucas pops for a bigger Job next cycle. Especially if he has another good season. I think he has the potential to be an elite recruiter.

  33. Evan Miya on the Hysterics and his take on the roster. Pretty good summary. His metrics don’t love Burton. Roster offensively limited. Lack of returning minutes. Didn’t get into the freshman at all. I personally think and have stated that’s where our roster building is flawed. We’ve got 2 that I have zero expectations for. And right now those guys are 9 and 10 on the roster. I feel those guys should be our 12-13. This in a nutshell sums up my roster concerns. I think the top end is strong in 3 of the 5 spots with some decent hope in the other starting spots. What’s not calculated into this, guy 9-13 might outplay and win job from 1-8. But if spots 11-13 are literal placeholders, no real inside completion is ever happening. Flawed model.

  34. DAMN YOU OLD FART! ;) On behalf of the moderators (that's you OF), I was hoping that this would stay under wraps until, oh, about the 12th of never, to prevent political commentary Tomfoolery and the like. So in advance; a reminder that: While most have firmly held political opinions, this board is not the place for them. Even with an IUFB visit to the White House, that policy will be strictly enforced. Why is this our rule? Because: If we open that Pandora's Box it is very hard to close it or moderate it even-handedly, Political conversations on a message board usually go downhill even if they start out well-intentioned, And finally (and most importantly) because generally, people enjoy that this is a politics-free internet space. So here are examples of what will and won't be allowed: YES: "Looking at the IUFB White House video and saw that Cignetti brought his third cousin's grandma's nephew with him. Heard that kid can really punt a football and has committed to NW Eastern Michigan Tech. See link for that young fella's recruiting profile." NO: "Looks to me like XXX Player loves/hates/is ignoring/is playing bocce ball with XXX Politician. I find that to be lovable/hate-able/worthy of being bludgeoned with a bocce ball."
