https://x.com/NBA/status/1810073834499784734 Kel’el with a really good game today in a win over Sacramento. 26 and 11 and Sac had no matchup for him so he just punished them in the paint. Very nice.

    They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

People that I encounter on a daily basis don’t make millions of dollars and are in a very visible leadership role. What he said and did on senior night was totally uncalled for, childish, and very unprofessional

Uh, no. IU does not need a uniter. IU needs a winner. RMK was not a uniter. Unite the fans...yeah, right. Now there's a priority to put into a head coach's contract. /s

I don't think it would have mattered when he had axed their access. People would be critical of it if IU had been losing but forgiving if that had been winning.
  7. 1 point
Don’t really think his comments registered with very many. Nothing that 25+ wins wouldn’t cure instantly.

When I say a “Uniter” I mean someone that hasn’t already divided and seems to be happy to continue to divide. Winning Consistently for sure is the biggest hurdle. Woody started as a “Uniter” “us against them” guy but this season he turned on a huge portion of the fanbase. Instead of taking accountability and saying he didn’t live up to his own expectations and these are the things we are going to do to fix it. He went on a crusade against fans not happy with him not reaching the expectations he acknowledges. Just completely backwards strategy and could have been much easier if he could have swallowed some pride.

Piss on that. We need a winner. We had a uniter in Crean and yall couldn't get over him adjusting his pants and clapping.

lol. Incredible. As I’ve said before, if only Woodson worked half as hard as you people do at defending him.

Lmao no one gives a **** about your cherry-picked statistic. He barely beats the bottom feeders of the NCAA during the non-conference schedule, amazing! 31-29 in an incredibly mediocre Big Ten.

Management had its part I wont deny that. But the man crossed so many bridges that no one wanted to play for by the end. And if anything this speaks to my larger point that needs to stop being overlooked. We ain’t doing squat as a program if we don’t have a respectable administration. Good administration’s don’t give their besties the highest paid job in the state of Indiana lol. Good lord. You guys are sad defending this garbage.

He didn’t lose a large portion of the fan base, he lost a very loud minority. Most level-headed people aren’t happy with the way last season played out, but understand losing a program great in TJD and an additional 1st rd pick was likely going to lead to some regression, and firing somebody after a single bad season wasn’t going to happen. Places like this represent a fraction of the actual fan base. I read BTownBanners, Rivals, Inside The Hall, and HSN and this place by far is the most insecure when it comes to Woodson. Woodson is absolutely in a prove it year, but way too many people bought into the false hype and rumors perpetuated by some of the bigger name voices who cover Indiana basketball.

Strange Vendetta my guy. It’s Because they want Indiana to be great above all things else. Look at how the cover IUWBB. They would be Woodys biggest fans if only he was good at coaching college basketball and winning games. Enduring last season in real time was difficult for the most ardent fans. As an aside we all knew this was going to end badly at some point because they are fans yet they were functioning in a much larger capacity with real impact.

Folks were saying the same kind thing last offseason. Where there’s a Woodson, there’s a way.

Soon to be followed by a "it was better in the '80s" post.

Ahh the weekly “why do you guys keep talking about this” post from Scott.

HH are NOT employees of IU or Woodson despite what Woodson and, apparently, you seem to believe. Making him come to Bloomington for this to happen was a power play Woodson used to to stroke his own ego.
  19. 1 point
None of us will ever be able to confirm if Woodson said that exactly. But it sounds like a statement from someone who talks in Third Person 70% of the time would make. Frankly he’s hinted at this thought this season before.

Eric said the Woodson meeting happened in May, not April. Scott Dolson podcast was released on April 30th as well so it sounds like there was a gap between the podcast and the in person conversation.

I mean, if the bigs can dominate 1v1s and kick accurately and on time when doubles present, it should work. One of the few things I liked last year with our offense was some of the 2 man game, high/low stuff from Reneau/Ware. I hated practically everything else from pace, shot selection, movement, etc ABCs of basketball. Carlyle and Rice are getting a lot of hype. Please for the love of god play some uptempo, transition, fast paced full court hoop. Get 1 big down the court early like Zeller use to excel at. And that’s how you utilize your bigs and create tempo.

He's going to be the stand in the deep corner guy watching the two bigs clog the lane.

    Nope. Not his job.

Man some days all you can do is laugh at our institution. Our athletic department as a whole has been an absolute **** show for all of our lives. But I don’t think that as far as the institution goes. But the last 20ish years? It’s one thing after another. Forget basketball. It’s been a joke for 25 years. Will never not support it, and will be the biggest sunshine pumper there is. But it’s a **** show. Anyone suggests otherwise is lying to themselves. I just have always thought, and been consistent for close to 20 years on these boards it goes way higher and it won’t be fixed for a long time. Even then how much damage did it take to get there? There is no exit plan in place after Woody. We all know it. It just keeps getting progressively worse in all areas of the University. I have zero confidence they get anything right. And I know they read these comments.
